CCB - Credit Card - Planning & Analysis – Executive Director

Job Description

The Planning & Analysis (P&A) Group is responsible for partnering within the business and across the firm to provide financial and strategic analysis, central oversight and coordination of firmwide budgeting and forecasting, and strategic program management and execution.  Additionally, the P&A Group helps drive and improve automation, simplification of processes and the enhancement of analytics.

 

These roles primarily support the strategic analysis of our financial planning framework, in addition to partnering closely with LOB business teams and functions for core financial reporting, process improvement, ad-hoc analysis and due diligence.

 

Credit Card P&A directly supports the Credit Card CFO. The team provides comprehensive strategic and financial analyses that support decision-making and evaluate performance of the business in furtherance of achieving commercial and financial objectives. The team also manages traditional financial planning workstreams, such as the monthly forecast process and financial analytics, quarterly earnings, and annual budget and capital stress testing analytics.

 

The Credit Card P&A team, in partnership with business, strategy and other finance teams, leads the financial analytics for and consolidation of monthly business review materials for meetings with both firmwide and Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) leadership, as well as strategic, financial and industry analysis in support of public disclosure associated with the Firm’s presentations at Investor Day and industry conferences.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver timely, accurate and comprehensive earnings reporting, analytics, storyline, and Q&A in close partnership with the CFO and Risk teams
  • Own, in conjunction with Business Management, agendas and materials for key business meetings, including business reviews with Credit Card CEO and CCB CEO and CFO, as well as updates to regulators.  Influence the content based on knowledge of the financials, working directly with the Credit Card CFO and business teams.
  • Own monthly finance/risk performance reporting and analysis that provides a dynamic and comprehensive view of financial performance, key metrics and drivers, and key industry updates and timely presentation to Credit Card CFO, Executive Team and CEO, working with the CFO teams
  • Own dashboard strategy for Card Services including designing dashboards for the business and prioritizing their development and implementation, to drive delivery of next generation management reporting and analytics
  • Preparation and critical review of ad-hoc business performance and driver analyses, and leveraging it to identify opportunities for business improvement and recommend actions across the business.
  • Prepare comprehensive quarterly competitor review packages for Card Executive Team leveraging public disclosures
  • Drive alignment on core strategic priorities, including objectives, key results, and milestones

  • Ensure timely, accurate and comprehensive actions/communications to complete senior management follow-ups

Qualifications
  • 10+ years’ experience in a medium to large diverse organization in Finance/Accounting and or management consulting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting
  • Experience in planning, forecasting, budgeting
  • Confidence with finance and accounting concepts, understanding of financial statements, has the ability to comprehend and clearly communicate complex concepts
  • Strong team leader and change agent; comfortable leading teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for attracting and developing talent with skills of the future, including leveraging data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau)
  • Excellent quantitative, critical thinking and analytical problem solving skills – as well as written and verbal communication
  • Ability to synthesize  information to formulate a “story” for Executive Management
  • Ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously and independently, while maintaining a high degree of communication and escalation at appropriate junctures
  • Strong work ethic, self-starter who is creative with a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Quick learner with exceptional attention to detail
  • Professional maturity, personal integrity, and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to receive and act upon feedback
