CCB Risk
Chase Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) serves consumers and small businesses with a broad range of financial services, including personal banking, small business banking and lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance and investment advice. Consumer & Community Banking Risk Management partners with each CCB sub-line of business to identify, assess, prioritize and remediate risk. Types of risk that occur in consumer businesses include fraud, reputation, operational, credit, market and regulatory, among others

The Strategic Relationship Manager will be responsible for the strategic management of a select group of third party providers whose goods and services are consumed across the Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) organization.  This position will be responsible for supporting strategic roadmaps and ensuring CCB maximizes its use of these third parties under the best available commercial terms.   The role will be recognized as the “owner” of the overall vendor relationships and will partner at a senior level across CCB functions to drive holistic CCB-wide management of providers in scope for Strategic Partner Management (SPM) team.   The candidate will be a center-post between the demands of progressive operational, functional and strategic needs within CCB and the evolving product suite of these strategic partners.   All new or expanded relations between CCB and the identified third parties will be facilitated through this role to ensure cohesive management of CCB-wide consumption of goods and services aligns to strategic roadmaps and needs.


Individuals in this role will partner with peer functions within the SPM such as Oversight Administration and peers outside SPM including Sourcing, Legal, Risk, Third Party Oversight/Supplier Oversight Services (SOS), Supplier Assurance Services (SAS), Compliance, Controls and Data Management.   The role addresses leadership gaps in the instances where multiple business functions are leveraging the goods and services of strategic providers. Providers in scope at this time are:  Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.


Core Responsibilities

  • Coordination of all key-stakeholders to influence cohesive and strategic management of identified third party providers
  • Manage pipeline of new or expanding services/engagements
  • Support the facilitation of non-production interactions with the third parties
  • Partner with JPM Global Supplier Services (GSS) to secure best commercial terms
    • Example – partner with GSS and Lines of Business (LOB) in determining negotiating strategies for new services related to terms such as pricing, performance measurements, recovery time objectives (RTO), etc.
  • Serve as an escalation path for vendor or Master Services Agreement (MSA) level matters that are not able to be effectively addressed through LOB “engagement” or business process level roles and protocol
    • Example – facilitate the addressing of performance issues impacting several LOBs while ensuring penalties if any are appropriately acknowledged, addressed and allocated
  • Serve as the escalation path for senior management on matters that are broader than business process level concerns
  • Establish product advancement protocols that ensure CCB subject matter experts are provided formalized opportunity to be educated on evolution of available goods and services

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 7+ years of third party management - financial services industry experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of data needs and objectives related to third party data consumption
  • Recognized as a respected leader that establishes and maintains collaborative relationships
  • Proven ability to influence change
  • Exceptional and proven negotiating skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent administrative and coordination skills
  • Strong understanding of controls objectives
  • Demonstrated experience operating in a matrixed environment; with confidence to overcome ambiguity
