Our Team

The Trusts & Estates (T&E) Tax practice within Wealth Management supports the tax return filings prepared by outsourced external tax preparers but retains oversight of the vendor relationship including tax filings, cash payments, refund processing and other tax-related functions.  This role would require a close working relationship with the Tax Liaison Leader (TLL) including contact with internal and external stakeholders.  The T&E Tax Associate's primary responsibility is to provide support for tax matters for our client base and to ensure strong communications between JPM, our business partners and our external vendors.  this would include data transfer process and procedure, concise and thoughtful messaging and focus on priority items.  This role involves frequent interaction with senior management, tax preparation firms and front office advisors (e.g., Trust Officers, Bankers, Investors, etc.) in a fast-paced team environment as well as accountability for broader projects.  

 
Responsibilities 
Planning:
  • Partner with TLL and other internal colleagues to develop and communicate information to the front office advisors.  
  • Align group goals and objectives with firm priorities and initiatives
  • Work with team to ensure all team responsibilities are reviewed for relevance and process integrity
  • Offer creative solutions as issues arise and act as a partner on key business decisions
  • Identify potential data integrity issues or gaps and provide guidance to resolve
Information Management:  
  • Enable management by providing timely, accurate information on calendar deliverables as well as metric reporting 
  • Understand the data requirements and information transfers that are occurring between JPM and external vendors to ensure accuracy and validity
  • Provide strong support for all technology requirements and consider technology to improve data transfer between stakeholders
  • Research, communicate and resolve questions from front office advisors
Risk Management:  
  • Ensure proper discipline around data transfer, communication, procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Use data as a control to optimize resources and establish repeatable and predictable processes
  • Prioritize matters needing attention 
Operations Support:
  • Ensure proper discipline around generation and reconciliation of tax payments
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with tax withholding and reconciliation
  • Interact with other Operations teams to ensure trust accounting facilitation including communication of tax and trust accounting adjustments
Team Objectives:
  • Assist in overall needs of the team and provide support in areas of specialty as well as during peak periods

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree; CPA preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Fiduciary Tax experience preferred
  • Proactive, strategic, and inquisitive thinker
  • Strong analytical and process view skills
  • Outstanding relationship management, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Client focused with a tenacity to resolve issues and conflicts
  • High energy and enthusiasm required to partner with multiple stakeholders
  • Pro-active self-starter
  • Capable of leading with conviction; willing to make tough/unpopular decisions
  • Affable, with a high tolerance for ambiguity 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with excellent organizational, multitasking and prioritizing skills
  • Excessive attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Familiarity with OneSource Tax Software and Omni Platform a plus
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint
