Human Resources plays an integral role in designing, implementing, and managing global initiatives across the firm.  The functional areas within HR include global recruiting, training, talent and development, career management, diversity, compensation, benefits, employee relations, technology, finance and HR service delivery ( HRSD). As a trusted compensation manager, this candidate will be a strategic solution provider and expert advisor to HR business partners; combining in-depth knowledge of compensation principles, understanding of the business needs and market landscape, and associated detailed analysis/models.  You will perform a variety of complex compensation activities which include providing guidance to line and HR management on all matters regarding compensation, navigating and leading the development of compensation practices, supporting compensation funding activities while partnering with Finance, providing comprehensive market information and analysis, managing the administration & coordination of the annual compensation review process, helping to embed the firm’s culture relating to compensation within the organization, and providing assistance on the structuring of compensation packages to prospective employees. 

  

The specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Partner with Finance and HR colleagues to advise the business helping to ensure that J.P. Morgan Chase remains at the forefront of practice on compensation issues

  • Provide counsel to HR professionals and business managers about compensation decisions; interpret and apply policies, often in complex situations

  • Help to design and implement overall comp strategy for clients, and influencing / articulating to senior management

  • Provide strategic support, partnership, and recommendations of appropriate compensation structure for various projects

  • Provide end-to-end annual compensation planning and administration support for the business

  • Lead coordination of business-aligned incentive plan activities, including compensation governance meetings, coordination of BAIC plan updates
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of business issues and priorities; effectively analyze and diagnose issues; provide clear advice and recommendations to help partners make informed and sound comp-related decisions.
  • Review and approval of offer packages to ensure competitiveness and compliance with corporate governance guidelines
  • Participate in compensation surveys; perform independent analysis of internal and external benchmarking data to support compensation needs. Investigate and communicate compensation best practices
  • Actively participate and/or lead life of business-wide projects
  • Leverage firm-wide resources to achieve desired outcomes efficiently and with consistency across lines of business, where appropriate
  • Support the discussion surrounding the evolving regulatory environment and its impact on compensation practices and helps design and implement revised policies and procedures as appropriate


Qualifications:

  • 6 - 9 years relative HR and/or compensation experience

  • Prior experience in financial services is highly preferred but not required

  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and data/information management skills

  • Proven consulting skills; ability to drive business goals through HR / Compensation strategies and to address issues / devise solutions with creativity and innovation

  • Ability to work collaboratively and to cultivate and sustain strong partnerships with internal and external clients and colleagues

  • Experience in and understanding of business-aligned incentive plans / plan design

  • Strong planning and project management skills

  • Exceptional systems skills; Business Objects and Web intelligence / Desktop Intelligence skills preferred.  Advanced MS Excel skills required.

  • Ability to drive and sustain operational excellence and to develop controls

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment; ability to work well under pressure and to manage multiple priorities
