The Department of Oncology at Amgen in South San Francisco is seeking a highly motivated undergraduate student with interest in biotechnology and immunotherapy to join our endeavor in immune-oncology research to discover new innovative treatments for cancer.

The intern will be an integral member of a dynamic research team, collaborating with research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, and working closely with groups in other functional areas including Inflammation, Therapeutic Discovery, and Medical Sciences.

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Currently enrolled in a full time Bachelor's Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing

Enrolled in a full time Bachelor's or Combined Bachelor's/Master's degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

Degree concentration(s) in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering or immunology

Laboratory experience and knowledge

Strong attention to detail, organization skills, skills working independently and ability to learn quickly

Excellent interpersonal skills; hardworking, great teammate and self-starter; serious commitment to hard work and excellence

Strong critical thinking, data analysis, interpretation and record keeping skills

Experience with molecular and cellular biology, including biological sample handling and preparation, cell culture, and flow cytometry

Knowledge and experience using target expression databases and statistical analysis software packages
