Job Summary

Amgen's 10 to 12-week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient's lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation. Relocation housing and/or transportation allowance may be available for eligible candidates.

Amgen's manufacturing facility in West Greenwich, RI is looking for students with outstanding academic records and demonstrated leadership capabilities. An internship at Amgen is a hands-on learning experience under the guidance of an Operations Manager. Interns are matched to meaningful and challenging projects.

Participation as an intern has the potential to lead to an offer to join the Rotational Leadership Development Program or other entry-level full-time position upon college graduation, depending on available positions and an evaluation of your performance.

Operational Excellence - Lean Transformation

This position will provide the opportunity to work within the Operational Excellence Department at the Amgen RI Operations Facility s upporting performance improvements of critical processes using Industrial Engineering concepts and tools . Coaching, mentorship, and guidance will be provided to the intern as they engage in the following project areas:

  • Advance application of Training Within Industry (TWI)
  • Identify and lead improvement initiatives to impact process waste, cycle time, and change over reduction
  • Perform other IE related tasks as required like time studies, process mapping, and data analyses


Basic Qualifications:

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years or older
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
  • Completion of at least one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
  • Enrolled in a full-time bachelor's program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
  • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pursing a degree in Industrial or Systems Engineering
  • GPA 3.5 or higher
  • Junior Standing
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of MS Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint), Visio, and Minitab
  • Experience performing time studies and creating workforce models
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, project management, problem solving, analytical and quantitative skills
  • Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility and adaptability
  • Proven leadership experience on campus (e.g., projects, clubs, organizations, sports)
