The IT Technical Delivery Manager (TDM) is responsible for leading the delivery of large, strategic, and complex integration projects.  The TDM is ultimately responsible for the leadership, financial management, quality, and timely delivery of the projects.  They will be part of a technology team to ensure that technical solutions are delivered, aligned to the Corporate Strategy and digital agenda, and deliver value to our customers.  American Airlines is the largest airlines in the world, offers the selected individual an engaging career to deliver innovative solutions, increase IT business value, and delight our external customers!

What you'll do
  • Manage development and delivery of technology solutions throughout the enterprise
  • Ensure that technology solutions are fit-for-purpose and aligned with architectural principles, standards and roadmaps.
  • Consider Total Cost of Ownership and financial impact of technology solutions, with a view to delivering value to our customers.
  • Provide technical leadership and innovation across all aspects of technology development.
  • Develop and maintain effective ways of working throughout the department and organization
  • Lead and manage technical delivery resources
  • Support the technology strategy to meet organization goals and objectives, and to improve the quality of service it delivers both internally and externally.
  • Create and maintain a professional culture within the team, where individuals take ownership and focus on delivering excellence, quality and value for the customer.
  • Responsible for the quality and technical approach taken by teams, ensuring it aligns with Company and IT Strategy
  • Ensure development activity aligns with technology standards, principles, architecture roadmaps, service management standards and customer experience
  • Responsible for the quality of solutions delivered, ensuring appropriate development and operational standards maintained
  • Working across all teams within IT to support the delivery of technical solutions, implementation of large enhancements and change initiatives.
  • Use Agile methodologies to maintain a strong focus on delivery priorities, holding others to account for delivery, and swiftly responding to change requirements.
  • Promote resilience and responsiveness in the organization by being open and honest about challenges, and the actions required to address unexpected developments.
  • Gather and report detailed performance data against key indicators, to generate actionable improvements to the quality of service offered.
  • Identify, manage and seek to resolve technical risks and issues against business requirements.
  • Build knowledge, capacity and capability within teams, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or Communications  or equivalent experience/training
  • 3 years of Technical Delivery Management experience
  • 1 year of product delivery experience
  • 1 or more Technical certiifications within the last 5 years, i.e. Server (MCSE), Storage (SNIA), Network (CCENT/CompTIA Network+), Virtualization (VCP) or Security (CompTIA Security+)

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • 5 years of Technical Delivery Management experience

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Experience in adapting agile methodologies to large scale
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills, have strong presentation and analytical skills, and possess a strong desire to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to plan requirements three to five years in advance and aid others in accomplishing annual goals
  • Identify group conflict and facilitate resolution
  • Must be goals oriented and a team player
  • Lead both technical and non-technical discussions 
  • Proven ability to build and facilitate relationships at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
  • Commitment to system functionality and user satisfaction in rapidly growing and changing environments
  • Develop and present business case and related ROI to senior management for justification of investment in upgrades or replacement of hardware/software.
  • Conceive solutions, build consensus, and sell/execute solutions
  • Comfortable with making decisions, monitoring progress, and reporting results
  • Very strong analytical skills and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with evolving program/project requirements and priorities
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, including willingness and ability to consult with subject matter experts from engineering, support, and product management
