  • This position is for a hands-on Systems Analyst in the Distribution IT organization. The candidate will be a member of the technical staff to design, architect and maintain the product developed by the technology vendor. The candidate will be involved in guiding the product evolution in a supporting role. The candidate is expected have a thorough technical background in areas of development, design, architecture and product support. In addition, the candidate will work with airline industry groups to ensure American’s interests are advanced and proposed standards are consistent with overall business strategy. It is essential for the candidate to possess excellent collaboration and communication skills and is able to work well with others with a positive and cheerful attitude
What you'll do

*    Troubleshoots and debugs complex issues, identifies and implements solutions in close collaboration with other members of technical staff
*    Executes XML queries using SoapUI to flesh out solutions to new and existing customer issues
*    Conducts testing using SoapUI in coordination with the QA team to identify performance bottlenecks
*    Develops solutions to address performance bottlenecks in collaboration with other members of technical staff
*    Communicates solutions to business partners and other internal stakeholders
*    Participates in IATA and other relevant industry forums to stay abreast of NDC technology
*    Partners with IATA for schema standardization and subsequently works with technology vendor for implementation
*    Analyzes new and existing NDC schemas to identify implementation gaps as well as opportunities for product evolution

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

*    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Technology, or related field or equivalent experience/training
*    3 years of relevant system development experience
*    3 years of experience working in an Agile environment


Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

*    Distribution technologies such as NDC
*    Experience with Sabre PSS, reservations or other customer facing systems
*    Agile methodology experience
*    Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Power BI and Tableau


Skills, Licenses & Certifications

*    Hands-on technical experience – development or infrastructure background
*    Excellent communication skills – oral, written and presentation
*    Deep knowledge of XML technologies – schemas, web services and SoapUI
*    Analytical skills – ability to understand, define and communicate technical problems and issues
*    Ability to maintain the big picture while honing in on the issues
*    Ability to foster and maintain productive working relationships with business partners, 3rd party vendors and other stakeholders
*    Must be detail-oriented and self-motivated 
*    Some travel may be required
