Job Description

Responsible for supervising his/her operation toward its primary objectives by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Supervises the aircraft maintenance workload, resources, and activities for an assigned work group or several work groups at terminal and/or hangar operations at line or base maintenance stations in such a manner as to ensure continuing safety, compliance, dependability, reliability and financial performance, with fair and harmonious relationships within assigned work group(s), the operations management team, TWU, internal customers, vendors, FAA, and all non- American Airlines (AA) business contacts
  • Supervises, administers, and coordinates the activities of their assigned work group(s) in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by the Shift Manager, Manager, Managing Director, Vice President, the Senior Vice President – Maintenance and Engineering (M&E), and the airline

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency
  • Successful Line and/or Base station operations track record
  • 2 years’ experience as a crew chief, tech crew chief, other related Level 4 supervisory or leadership position
  • 5 years verifiable hands-on experience spent in the repair, maintenance, overhaul or manufacture of aircraft with a gross weight in excess of 70,000 lbs. (including fuel) or engines with 15,000 lbs., or more of thrust
  • 2 years’ experience managing, supervising and/or directing workgroups
  • Successful track record and experience with process improvement in maintenance and/or production environments

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's and/or Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field
  • Aircraft maintenance operational leadership experience
  • 6 month’s experience in positions requiring budget understanding, resource forecasting and management, and workload planning in maintenance environments

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A&P License
  • Knowledge of functional area
  • Strong PC skills
  • Ability to supervise management, non-management and contract labor work groups
  • Ability to concurrently handle multiple responsibilities
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels both verbally and written
  • Physical ability necessary to safely and successfully perform the essential functions of the position, with or without any legally required reasonably accommodations that do not pose an undue hardship
