Your Role:
The Staff Accountant (Accounts Payable) will support the AP Manager in the daily operations of the Accounting department and participate in the monthly, quarterly and yearly financial closings.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Review invoices and vouchers for satisfactory approval, contact employees for proper back-up documentation for payments and clarify questionable invoice items and prices, or obtain approval signatures.
  • Ensure that expenses are charged to appropriate cost centers and codes, and work directly with Budget and other departments to resolve any classification/allocation discrepancies identified with payment vouchers.
  • Process Purchase Orders and AP vouchers.
  • Prepare AP payments and check runs.
  • Perform month end AP close.
  • Analyze and reconcile the accounts payable account on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in the monthly/quarterly financial closings by reconciling and preparing Journal Entries for accruals, insurance expense, intercompany transactions and management fees.
  • Perform quarterly analysis of expense, asset and liability accounts; identifying and adjusting/correcting for discrepancies as needed.
  • Assist in year-end audit of financial statements.
  • Process 1099 forms annually.
  • Take ownership of Vendor Relationships and Internal business partners.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding payment voucher status
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with peers, professionals and management and to work within a team and self-directed environment.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • 2-4 years of general Accounting experience
  • Familiar with Concur applications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent customer service skills and work ethic
  • New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire
