Amgen is searching for a Senior Manager of Accounting on its Global Accounting team. This role will report to the Director of Global Accounting Operations. This Senior Manager will be based out of the Puerto Rico office.

This role will lead and manage a team of 4 individuals in the Intercompany Accounting group and will manage a team of offshore individuals who support this area through our outsourced vendor Genpact located in Kolkata, India.

Primary responsibilities will include the following:

  • Provide leadership to the team to execute on all monthly and/or quarterly accounting and reporting activities, related to Inter-company transactions, and to ensure US GAAP and other statutory reporting compliance. Activities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • In-house cash and inter-company reconciliation process
  • Analyzing and recording Transfer Price Adjustments
  • Profit-in-inventory reconciliation and elimination process for consolidated financial statements
  • Ex-patriate accounting
  • Execution of internal controls to ensure quality standards and compliance requirements are met
  • Partner with groups, such as Corporate Tax, Treasury, Supply Chain, Disbursements, and I.S. to ensure accurate accounting of inter-company related transactions.
  • Work with accounting management regarding accurate application of US GAAP and company policies and procedures.
  • Identify and drive new procedures/processes or modifying existing ones which lead to improved cost efficiency and/or appropriate quality, compliance, and standardization levels.
  • Provide direction on continuous improvement ideas and initiatives.
  • Serve as lead contact for Corporate External Reporting, Corporate Audit, External Auditors, and Tax Compliance to provide audit/reporting support and analysis.
  • Lead ERP and automation implementations to ensure accurate design, documentation, testing, and training of personnel.


Basic qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree AND 2 years of finance or technical accounting experience


Or

  • Master's degree AND 6 years of finance or technical accounting experience


Or

  • Bachelor's degree or AND 8 years of finance or technical accounting experience


And

  • 2 years of managerial experience directly balancing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources


Preferred qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or MBA
  • Audit or Big 4 Public Accounting experience
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Strong technical US GAAP knowledge
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills and be able to bridge culture differences
  • Detail oriented; strong business analytical skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work with a minimum level of direction in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to lead projects and work with cross-functional teams
  • Team/Contractor supervision experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with the general ledger system (SAP)
  • Industry experience
