Job Summary

Amgen is seeking a Sr Associate Software Engineer who acts as a thought partner and application forward-thinker crafting the Corporate Functions Platforms technology demand among the business community. While working with both business and technology groups to collect, clarify, and translate business requirements into documentation, and then to conceptual design from which applications and solutions are developed. He/She shall also lead minor system improvement projects, perform major enhancement or project tasks, and support steady-state operations within the application portfolio.

This role will report to the Senior Manager Information Systems (Corporate Functions Platforms) based at Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. This state-of-the-art center serves as a base for finance, information systems, and human resources professionals to make a significant impact at one of the world's leading biotechnology companies.

The Sr Associate Software Engineer serves as an internal point of contact for flow of information between team members. He/She will be a contributor to the success of the Corporate Functions vision to improve end user experience and efficiently meet the business needs & compliance. This role will provide exposure to the Amgen's Corporate Functions Platforms and its internal business clients in the Record-to-Report (RTR) area, including Finance, Accounting and Treasury systems. It shall be encouraged that the Sr Associate Software Engineer serves as the RTR domain authority for Build and Run services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides domain expertise to the Finance, Accounting and Treasury communities
  • Partners with Service Owner, peer full-time employees, and lead service provider in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement
  • Drives minor improvement projects based on PMLC, collaborating with application development teams
  • Ensures compliant documentation with supporting detail
  • Define and maintain the RTR service roadmap and perform service reviews with multi-functional partners
  • Support and maintain validated state of SOX applications
  • Work with upstream data integration source systems and downstream data integration consumers and systems to negotiate all aspects of enhancement work and downstream impact assessment and readiness
  • Develop requirements for new and updated reports based an intimate knowledge of the data structure and the consuming business process
  • Builds compelling business cases with cost estimation accuracy, then translates complex business processes into clear, actionable steps for successful execution of business capability delivery while converting business functionality into applicable requirements
  • Partners with IS Architects to deliver major and transformational projects
  • Supports steady-state operations to ensure service level agreements are met
  • Provides day-to-day support to the execution of the Corporate Functions platforms technology roadmap and lifecycle management (LCM) plans
  • Coordinates activities toward implementation of the Corporate Functions Operating Model
  • Works independently, function as a knowledge resource for less experienced colleagues while providing oversight using standard methodologies to improve systems and services
  • Assist in critical issue management
  • Involved in SAAS configuration and reporting BI development


Basic Qualifications

Master's degree

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of Information Systems / Software Engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Experience with Financial, Accounting and Treasury systems including Hyperion, Quantum, Blackline and other meaningful technologies.
  • Experience with Sarbanes Oxley Act compliance
  • Proven excellence in interpersonal skills, leadership, multitasking, persuasion, negotiation of critical issues, a strong attention to detail, and understanding of business complexity
  • Validated analytical, science-based problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • High attention to detail and self-directed
  • Ability to work in a team environment, effectively interacting with others
  • Experience with ETL technologies (i.e. Informatica) and HTML
