Amgen is seeking a Sr Associate Project Management to manage critical change initiatives and operational requirements for the Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS) team as well as support Amgen's strategic relationships with key suppliers through our Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program. The Associate will report to the SRM lead at our corporate headquarters located in Thousand Oaks, California.

Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS) focuses on driving value and productivity across the enterprise. The Supplier Relationship Management Team, as part of GSS, partners with cross-functional stakeholders (R&D, Operations, Commercial, and Corporate Functions) to explore innovation opportunities with key suppliers, identify process improvements, and manage critical risks. The team also leads or participates in several Sourcing Team related projects and transformation initiatives, including the Source to Pay Digital Transformation and stratifying Amgen's supplier base into tiers annually.

Key responsibilities of the Supplier Relationship Management Associate include the following:
  • Provides planning, logistical support, and project management in support of our Sourcing Team Executives, the SRM program, and broader transformation projects (e.g., Source to Pay Digital Transformation)
  • Engages in quantitative and qualitative analysis to support the development of business cases for innovation opportunities, process improvements, and stratification of Amgen's suppliers into tiers annually
  • Applies general knowledge of Biopharma industry and ability to research / learn / synthesize findings on innovation opportunities, process improvements, and risks
  • Assists in the facilitation of Steering Committee meetings and Quarterly Business Reviews with Amgen and Supplier Executives
  • Supports Team Leads meetings, and manages actions and decisions from those sessions
  • Leverages problem-solving skills to bring structure to vaguely defined problems


Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of Project Management experience

OR

Associate's degree and 6 years of Project Management experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years in a corporate environment in or around Biotech / Pharma or other heavily regulated environment
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office /Excel
  • Knowledge, and experience in vendor outreach, supplier management, procurement, contracting, project management, contract administration, purchasing, budgeting, accounting and finance, purchasing and/or contracting experience in a commercial environment, including procurement pre-planning, bid document preparation (RFP), due diligence, source selection and contract negotiation
  • Experience working with senior business leadership and developing joint goals for supplier diversity and sustainability
  • Collaboration skills in working with category managers and with the Diversity and Inclusion group in Human Resources
