Job Summary:

Amgen is seeking a Senior Associate (IS) - Storage, to join the Amgen Storage Team within the Global Information Services (GIS) organization.

The incumbent is responsible for supporting the enterprise Storage environment providing operational support and handled service provider (MSP) oversight for our multiple Dell EMC and NetApp storage services.

The Senior Associate Engineer will collaborate with the Senior Manager Information Systems at its Capability Center in Tampa, FL. This state-of-the art center serves as a base for finance, information systems, and human resources professionals to make a significant impact at one of the world's leading biotechnology companies - the role is based in our Puerto Rico Manufacturing site.

The Infrastructure Operations Team leads physical and virtual hosting including: private and public cloud hosting options, operating systems, databases, middleware, storage, and backup. The Storage/backup group owns the large scale global NAS/SAN storage infrastructure that requires 24x7 uptime and meets compliance requirements.

Key Activities for the Specialist IS Engineer include:

  • Supports the Service Owner, Manufacturing, full time employees, and MSP in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of the technology service
  • Ensures service is aligned with the key principles of service ownership which includes: meeting the needs of the business, scalability, compliance, reliability, and resilience
  • Assist Service Owner and Architect in detailed resource planning for vendors and IT teams based on the prioritized project list
  • Perform necessary storage infrastructure maintenance in accordance with EMC and NetApp standard methodologies and Company Change Management policies
  • Supply to SOP & Runbook Design, Development, and ongoing updates
  • Supply to ongoing recommendations and standard methodologies in Business Continuity, Migration, High Availability, Backup, Recovery, and Archiving
  • Investigate and resolve storage related technical issues. Participate in rotational 24x7 On-Call Support at the SME level and assist/lead Root Cause Analysis reviews
  • Perform data replication, both local and extended distance using Dell EMC & NetApp replication technologies.


Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree

Or

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of Information Systems and Storage administration experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience with NetApp and/or Dell EMC storage technologies
  • 2+ years' experience in on premise backup and archiving solutions, and off-premise public cloud backup, archiving, and DR solutions
  • Proven hands-on experience with installing and leading NetApp and DELL EMC products with local and remote replication using SyncIQ, Snapmirror & Snapvault
  • Proficiency in Provisioning, Configuring and Coordinating zero RPO and low RTO for enterprise most meaningful applications
  • Ability to troubleshoot with appropriate storage management tools complex database performance issues
  • Ability to troubleshoot performance issues on SAN switches and storage arrays
  • Strong scripting skills with excellent data-driven problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proven experience as part of a high-performance team, skilled in persuasion, and negotiation of critical issues, along with a background of proven systems administration processes and procedures for both NAS and SAN environments
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure teams and Business Units to build strong solutions that meet the requirements
  • Must be proficient in both English and Spanish
