Amgen is seeking a Corporate Affairs Senior Manager - Social Media Story Teller to be based at our global headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA. The Senior Manager will report directly to Director of Social & Digital Strategy.

Consistent with the vision of Amgen Corporate Affairs to "proactively shape, drive and enhance the Amgen brand and reputation globally," the Social Media Story Teller is responsible for supporting the digital and social media strategy at the enterprise level, actively developing, curating and monitoring social media content, and serving as a project manager for day-of-air and feature stories to be posted across our enterprise social media channels.

Key Responsibilities of the Corporate Affairs Senior Manager - Social Media Story Teller will include:
  • Supports social media and digital strategy at the corporate level for owned media channels
  • Works to establish and regulate Amgen's brand voice on social media, including writing and proofing copy and content before posting
  • Owns, maintains and handles editorial calendar of social media-content and key achievements by utilizing resources like the Twitter annual business calendar
  • Works to identify and develop multimedia content to be featured across the enterprise social media channels
  • Ensures optimized use of existing corporate digital and social media channels globally
  • Maintains relationships with key external and internal business partners
  • Stays abreast of emerging trends in social media and digital
  • Works in CMS like Hootsuite and other platforms


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Journalism and/or Communications and/or Marketing experience

Or

Master's degree and 4 years of Journalism and/or Communications and/or Marketing experience

Or

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Journalism and/or Communications and/or Marketing experience

Or

Associate's degree and 10 years of Journalism and/or Communications and/or Marketing experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Journalism and/or Communications and/or Marketing experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Journalism background with AP Style knowledge
  • 8+ years of dedicated social media and content creation experience
  • 4+ years leading projects and handling editorial calendars
  • Experience launching new social media platforms and websites, and aligning a global organization to those activities
  • Experience in writing clever, informative and stimulating content with a focus on visual
  • Operates in a way that is science-based, using data and facts to inform content development
  • Models ethical behavior to teams and colleagues in the production and development of external content on social channels
  • Accountable for rapid delivery of high-quality content on social channels and delivering results
  • In recognition of peer presence on social media sites, works to compete intensely and win in this space
  • Ability to work within a broad global organization
  • Capable of working with multiple partners to passionately simplify and optimize complex systems and structures
  • Handles pressure and demands from multiple internal clients with contending priorities
  • Acts quickly with same day content creation and publishing
  • Position will include occasional evening, weekend and breaking news responsibilities
