Wholesale Lending Services (WLS) exists within Commercial Banking and provides loan servicing functions to all four JPMorgan lines of business. 

 

Position Overview

The Wholesale Lending Services (WLS), Operational Controllership Initiative Leader is a senior position within the JPMorgan Chase Wholesale Lending Services leadership team. This individual will be responsible for building the framework, procedures and program elements required to ensure the technical & financial changes made during transformation initiatives are in line with proper operational controllership principles required to enable and support a large scale, multi-system shared service utility. 

 

The role has three primary objectives:

 

First, lead effort to establish a framework to evaluate the current operational controllership needs of the commercial lending footprint across the systems used by WLS.  Create a multi-faceted program to determine the current characteristics of each of the 8 operating platforms.  After the baseline is established, develop a strategic roadmap of initiatives required to achieve the desired state of operational controllership.

 

Second, work with the product owners & technology teams to understand the transformation plans and the impact they may have on upstream & downstream interfaces. Provide expert guidance on the impact of such changes to the financial and operational reporting, reconciliation and accounting dependencies… ensuring that existing and future plans appropriately address the risk of change & mitigate the possibility of interface breaks.

 

Third, provide leadership and subject matter expertise in the upcoming implementation of ARR across the 7 operating systems in WLS.  Leverage expert accounting, financial reporting, operational controllership experience to create an implementation and testing plan to validate internal and vendor developed code to ensure it meets audit expectations.

 

The position requires an experienced senior leader who is a results-focused, visionary, influential and process-disciplined individual with strong technical & business acumen to deliver against an extensive current & future-state roadmap.  This person will develop the multi phased plan to transform current state to world class operating platforms, ensuring a healthy balance between the strategic long term and tactical quarterly objectives.


 

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous Systems Controllership & Financial Reporting Experience
  • 10+ years of previous change management program experience with proven success on a global scale
  • 10+ years of prior experience managing large scale financial system projects / programs (preferably commercial lending / leasing platforms)
  • Previous experience & expertise and a true passion for process innovation, design, and digital technology with proven success delivering complex, large scale initiatives
  • Demonstrated project management & leadership experience in financial services (including direct leadership of employees)
  • Strong financial & lending domain experience / knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience managing and collaborating with multiple teams, coordinating across different cross-functional initiatives, and reaching consensus with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent judgement and independent decision-making ability
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, time management, planning skills and the ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to multiple levels of management, both written and verbal
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • IT or technical experience a plus
    • Demonstrated Ability to work with large data sets
    • Knowledge of data warehousing technologies a plus
