  • The Community Relations department is responsible for helping drive inclusive growth and engaging the communities that our airline serves around the world. 
  • As a member of the Community Relations team, this individual will play a lead role in developing and executing community programs that drive large team member engagement, support business objectives and provide unique opportunities for the brand.
  • This includes the planning, development and implementation of the disaster relief program and day to day management of community activations. 
  • This role will also work hand in hand with the company’s data analytics team to assess Community Relations (CR) measurement and reporting practices, according to industry standards and best practices.
What you'll do
  • Plan and execute community outreach activations
  • Align global CR reporting efforts with company-wide goals, corporate reputation strategy and functional business priorities.
  • Manage the disaster relief program including logistics and communications with internal and external stakeholders  
  • Collaborate with multiple internal departments as well as external partners on community projects to help drive business results
  • Assist in cause marketing efforts for American’s national charitable partnerships to generate engagement with customers and increase team member involvement
  • Take ownership of tasks/projects and proactively communicate next steps, timelines and potential issues to appropriate stakeholders – including during ambiguous situations
  • Act with urgency and model sound strategic judgment to others including department and company leadership
  • Develop critical thinking skills by demonstrating the ability to anticipate major issues/obstacles
  • Make positive impact on the team, maintain optimistic, can-do attitude even when plans change
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 4 years related experience
  • Knowledge of community relations including program management and cause marketing
  • Knowledge and experience with planning and executing large community activations.
  • Experience in community relations, corporate social responsibility and/or cause marketing with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations
  • Creative, flexible, and collaborative with an ability to work in a team-oriented environment; results oriented; demonstrate a high level of initiative
  • Ability to travel up to 20% required
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously and execute on all with excellence
  • Ability to work outside traditional office hours including evenings and weekends as needed
