About The Job

Responsible for the strategic vision and daily management of the Emergency Planning & Response department.  Develops, implements, and manages all facets of the corporate emergency response program, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws/regulations and company goals/objectives and the appropriate level of corporate preparedness.

 

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Supports the Company’s emergency response in the event of an accident, natural disaster, or other significant event
  • Manages cross-departmental teams and acts as liaison between departments to ensure emergency response preparedness and compliance
  • Directs the research, review, and evaluation of external source materials regarding airline emergency operations/assistance programs
  • Ensures emergency operations and assistance programs are integrated with oneworld, Regional, and codeshare partners’ programs and procedures
  • Directs the development and operation of the emergency response team
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of training to ensure employees company-wide are receiving appropriate training to maintain readiness
  • Ensures emergency operations preparedness of hubs and field stations; directs evaluation of field stations’ emergency preparedness

  • Updates and coordinates with Legal to file the Company’s emergency response plan with the
  • Department of Transportation and National Transportation Safety Board
  • Manages the Go Team credit card program and all assets of the Emergency Plan
  • Develops and maintains the Company’s Emergency Response Manual
  • Acts as liaison with external organizations such as the NTSB and FAA and industry groups on family assistance matters
  • Develops and schedules company-wide emergency response drills, manifest reconciliation drills, and other ancillary drills periodically to test the readiness and dependability of the Emergency Response Plan
  • Develops and manages the department budget
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience/training
  • At least 5 years project management experience, with demonstrated ability to develop and manage cross functional teams to accomplish project objectives
  • At least 5 years-experience in a managerial position with demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Skills in facilitation and formal presentation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as well as domestic and international travel for an extended period of time
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees within the organization from front-line employees to senior leadership
  • Ability to lead and manage during crisis situations
  • Outstanding analytical skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in airline emergency response preferred
  • Bi-lingual
  • 5-7 years prior Leadership experience
