Amgen is searching for a Global Publications Senior Manager to join our Oncology Therapeutic Area team in Thousand Oaks, CA! The successful candidate will work with cross-functional and cross-regional leaders to develop dynamic, strategic Global Publication Plans aligned with program objectives for oncology marketed products and pipeline molecules.

The Senior Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Understand sources of inputs, across functions and regions, to gather product-specific insights

Evaluate cross-functional and regional insights and use these to build a global publication strategy, publication objectives, and publication tactics, in alignment with global product and medical strategies

Drive/influence the development of a value ofGlobal Publication Plan for multiple products

Manage modification of the Global Publication Plan based on shifts in landscape

Lead global publication planning team meetings and facilitate decision-making on publication priorities

Lead discussions on appropriate publication innovations (improved content, etc.)

Manage internal relationships with cross-functional partners and external relationships with authors and corporate partners

Support transparency commitments by ensuring adherence to disclosure requirements

Monitor publication metrics to determine performance to plan and find opportunities for improvement

Ensure accuracy of the Global Publication Plan as captured in system of record

Contribute to and/or lead department, functional, and/or cross-functional activities and initiatives

Facilitate various department processes (e.g., congress travel for communicating authors, requests for deviations from the Publications Standard Operating Procedure, copyright permissions)

Additional activities may include:

Provide on-site support at key scientific congresses and meetings

Understand the evolving publications landscape through engagement with and participation in professional societies

Mentor and/or manage junior staff

Manage execution of publications, including oversight of vendors, as needed

Travel occasionally (up to 10%)

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of publication development industry experience

Or

Master's degree and 6 years of publication development industry experience

Or

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of publication development industry experience

Or

Associate's degree and 10 years of publication development industry experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of publication development industry experience

Preferred Qualifications

PhD, MD, PharmD with at least 3 years of publication experience in the biopharmaceutical sector

Experience in developing product-specific publication plans

Clear understanding of current publication environment, good publication practices, Sunshine Act/Pharma Code of Conduct, ICMJE ((Internal Committee of Medical Journal Editors), GPP3, (Good Publication Practice Guidelines) and other global guidelines related to publications, scientific data communication, and transparency standards

Oncology/therapeutic area knowledge

Demonstrated record of executing strategically and tactically in a highly matrixed environment working successfully with cross-functional, dynamic teams

Demonstrated ability to provide strategic input to senior leadership and influence decision making

Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) and organizational, time management, and project management/planning skills

Ability to lead and/or facilitate effective team meetings

Strong computer and database skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products and DataVision
