  • ​This job is a member of the Information Technology Team within the Information Technology Division.
  • Responsible for leveraging cutting edge technology to solve business problems at American Airlines by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct and test reusable objects, and making the codebase a better place to live and work.
What you'll do
  • ​Collaborates with leaders, business analysts, project managers, IT architects, technical leads and other developers, along with internal customers, to understand requirements and develop needs according to business requirements
  • Develops and modifies complex, deadline-intensive and/or mission-critical applications using advanced programming tools
  • Documents all code using standard forms and procedures and review others work as appropriate
  • Assists others in the use of programming tools and recommend tools to best meet application needs
  • Works with Quality assurance to participate in unit, system and user acceptance testing based on an understanding of the development lifecycle
  • Participates in architectural recommendations/decisions and work with other infrastructure groups as applicable to determine and implement complex system hardware requirements that may involve multiple platforms, databases, peripherals or other technology
  • Provides the highest level of technical production support for applications, assists others with complex problem resolution and responds with solutions to both functional and technical issues in a timely manner
  • Troubleshoots and debugs complex issues; identifies and implements solutions
  • Creates detailed project specifications, requirements, and estimates
  • Researches and implements new technologies to enhance current processes, security, and performance
  • Supports the development of coding standards and adheres to best practices and security guidelines
  • Works closely with software architects and technical leads to ensure decisions meet long-term enterprise growth needs
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 3 years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications in hosted production environments
  • 3 years of professional, design, and open-source experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • Airline Industry experience
  • Deep experience in web app development using Angular 5+, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript,  Java/J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, Maven, Unit Testing
  • Hands-on experience with development and deployment of applications to Azure Cloud
  • Experience with Jenkins & CI/CD, DevOps, TDD
  • Experience with developing micro services
  • Relational databases and SQL like Oracle RDBMS or SQL Server. NoSQL databases like MongoDB, CouchDB or CosmosDB
  • Experience with the latest JavaScript frameworks like Angular, NodeJS, NPM
  • Experience of working with Web Services, proficiency with REST / JSON and SOAP / XML, database concepts, Oracle
  • Working knowledge in PWA using either of the following technologies - Angular / React JS / Node JS
  • Hands on experience with third party libraries and APIs
  • Experience in enterprise application development will be an added advantage
  • Experience utilizing CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps etc)

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Mobile App design, Development & Deployment experience
  • Deep experience in hybrid mobile app development for iOS and Android platforms using Angular 5+, Ionic, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, XCode
  • iOS SDK and Android SDK.
  • Broad experience of developing user interfaces, working with UX/UI designers
  • Experience with the latest JavaScript frameworks like Angular, Ionic 3/4, Cordova, NodeJS, NPM
  • Experience of working with Web Services, proficiency with REST / JSON and SOAP / XML, database concepts, SQLite
  • Strong experience in PWA using either of the following technologies - Angular / React JS / React Native/ Node JS
  • Hands on experience with third party libraries and APIs
  • Experience in enterprise application development will be an added advantage
  • Experience utilizing CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps etc.)
  • Knowledge of backend development using Java/.NET technologies
