The Department Technology Manager (DTM) works independently on projects that enhance the department's efficiency and visibility, involving social media, instructional technologies, and statistical computing. The DTM will work closely with faculty and staff of Dartmouth's largest academic department to support computer and technology needs.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

Faculty Technology Support
Responds in a professional and timely manner to faculty and staff requests for assistance with a wide variety of computer or technology needs. Will include:

  • Troubleshooting hardware and software problems in PC, MAC , and UNIX environments with software including Google and Microsoft products.
  • Connecting, configuring, and relocating computer hardware and other technology.
  • Providing general service and maintenance of departmental hardware and software.
  • Influencing and implementing technology acquisitions

Institutional Support Management
Builds relationships with Research Computing and ITC department to facilitate rapid and effective solutions to faculty and staff technology needs

Communications and Social Media

  • Enhances department's visibility by sourcing and creating content for and proactively maintaining its website, links to other offices, and displays throughout department hallways.
  • Engages students and general public with department social media. Creates, writes, enters, and maintains content and outreach communications about faculty research and student co-curricular activities.

Course Support

  • Assists faculty with learning-management and classroom technology.
  • Supports faculty in design and development of course material in Canvas, including creating and supplying course templates and proactively updating and maintaining information.
  • Builds relationships with Learning Design Department to facilitate rapid and effective solutions to faculty classroom technology needs

Database Administration
Enhances department's efficiency by creating and proactively maintaining databases for: progress of current undergraduates towards graduation requirements, alumni social outreach, and career sourcing research.
