Amgen is seeking a Senior Associate System Engineer to build and maintain industry-leading scientific applications with modern technology stacks that will be used by our Operations partners to drive Amgen's innovation in the drug development life cycle. The candidate will join our Operations Information Systems (OIS) team on the Lab Systems team.

The Lab Systems team is responsible for the Holistic Lab platform, which is a groundbreaking platform driving fundamental improvements in how information is collected, run and analyzed while structuring process execution for digital transformation. This role will collaborate with key partners to define and deliver to the digital lab roadmap for Operations.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Work with team members on design and development of capabilities across our Lab Systems platform
  • Participate in efforts to craft and build Proof-of-Concept solutions
  • Support enterprise and maintenance releases including validation testing and documentation and change control processes
  • Demo and explain application functionality to business users
  • Engage with business partners to analyze needs and translating requirements to technical requirements and recommend solutions
  • Work with external vendors and contractors providing mentorship as necessary to ensure the delivery of work


Basic Qualifications

Master's degree

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience

OR

Associate degree and 6 years of directly related experience

OR

High School / GED and 8 years of directly related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 plus years of experience with systems development life cycle and agile programming methods including requirements definition, solution design, program development, configuration, operations, support
  • Experience using one or more general purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: Java, C, C++, Python, Go, C#, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with developing testing plans and scripts and using testing and automation tools/platforms like ALM, Jenkins, Selenium etc
  • Good experience working with agile methodology & DevOps (Jenkins, JIRA, Github) frameworks with successful experience working in a collaborative team environment
  • Working knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns
  • Willing and able to learn a new technologies at a rapid pace
  • Understanding of FDA regulations governing computer system validation. Knowledge of FDA GxP and 21 CFR Part 11 regulations
  • High level understanding of business, manufacturing, and laboratory systems common in the process manufacturing as well as the integration of these systems through applicable standards
  • Experience working on a globally distributed enterprise application platform and large-scale implementations; ideally in a drug development lab / commercialization environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
