Amgen is seeking a Senior Associate Strategic Planning and Operations at its main headquarters in Thousand Oaks to join the Inflammation and Nephrology Business Unit (INBU) organization. The role will report to a Senior Marketing Manager.

This position will work within the INBU team by supporting ongoing budget management and planning activities, supporting the purchase order requisition and invoice management process, and providing brand team support with the inventory management and label change process.

Responsibilities for this role will include the following:
  • Collaborate with budget management as well as department leaders to develop quarterly and annual targets based on strategic priorities
  • Engage with department leads to measure spend against target on an ongoing basis, highlighting potential deviations from target to budget manager
  • Support budget manager in developing view for quarter and year-end accruals
  • Execute the PO process, which includes opening requisitions, tracking invoices and entering CARFs (Compliance Approval Request Forms)
  • Train new business partners on INBU budget and PO processes
  • Maintain tools and work with budget manager to drive continuous improvement within budget management process
  • Serve as a point of contact regarding budget questions/issues
  • Support brand team inventory management process, coordinating with brand team leaders on cessations
  • Engage cross-functionally with regulatory and marketing teams to facilitate labeling change process
  • Support brand teams on ad hoc projects, as needed

Basic Qualifications

Master's degree OR Master's degree completed by start date

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of finance, project management and/or commercial operations experience

OR

Associate's degree and 6 years of finance, project management and/or commercial operations experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of finance, project management and/or commercial operations experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced excel skills, with high degree of comfort in the management of large databases, VBA skills
  • Experience in project management, with the ability to handle projects from concept to completion
  • Experience in vendor management, particularly in terms of collaborating with team to obtain complete SoWs or invoices for work completed
  • Understanding of compliance norms in a healthcare company or related industry
  • Proven self-starter; ability to work under limited supervision and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfort working in collaborative team environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly present information
