About The Job

This job is a member of the Information Technology team, within the Information Technology Division. This position works closely with project managers, business leaders, and development team members to design and deliver cloud-based solutions for departments within American Airlines. This role places a particular emphasis on the data layer, so hands-on experience with SQL Server/Azure SQL and the ability to design (and implement) data warehouses, data lakes, and processes that can efficiently move data from a variety of sources into these structures is required. Additional responsibilities include evaluating, recommending and implementing new and emerging data management and storage technologies and standards. There will likely be opportunities to implement solutions beyond the database, so this is an ideal role for a continuous learning self-starter who is proactive about expanding their own knowledge and branching into web, cloud, and mobile development activities.  

 

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Develop, deploy, conduct quality assurance testing, debugs/refactors, and documents technology solutions
  • Support, maintain, and administer deployed solutions
  • Ensure security of all data and technology solutions
  • Formulate plan outlining steps required to develop program using structured analysis and design. 
  • Review, replace, delete, or modify codes to correct errors
  • Analyze, review, and alter program to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements 
  • Create and help promote patterns/techniques to foster DevOps adoption

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology , Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 5 years of data architecture, data science, or data analysis experience
  • 2 years architectural and design experience
  • Demonstrated experience with the following:
    • ETL Tools
    • .NET and SQL Server within the Microsoft Cloud
    • Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence tools and frameworks (e.g., Azure ML, TensorFlow)
    • Predictive Analysis and Data Visualization techniques using relevant tools (e.g. Tableau, Python, R, Power BI).
    • Database Design Principles
  • Significant experience in requirements analysis and use case development, with a thorough understanding of software development life cycles, development and technology tools, testing methodologies, and requirements gathering
  • Hands-on experience with cloud deployment patterns, micro-services architecture, real time analytics, and big data
  • Experience in Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM
  • Experience in DevOps Toolchain methodologies, including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
  • Ability to manage multiple efforts concurrently with the skills to keep complex initiatives moving forward
  • Ability to build strong and sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt to unexpected events, new facts, and rapidly changing circumstances
  • Ability to thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment and leverage best practices

  • Master’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology , Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 7 years of data architecture, data science, or data analysis experience
  • 3 years architectural/design experience, or technical/team leadership experience
  • Airline industry experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and adjust messaging based on the audience, including non-technical groups
  • Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, as well as independently
