MetLifes US Actuarial Development Program (ADP) focuses on developing future leaders of MetLife who will create innovative business solutions based on actuarial principles and contribute to the success of the company. As part of the professional development process, participants (known as actuarial students) are expected to rotate to new actuarial assignments approximately every two years within core areas of MetLifes businesses. Work experience gained will enable participants to become well-rounded actuaries and knowledgeable in several areas of actuarial practice. Such areas of practice may include product development, pricing, valuation, actuarial modeling, risk management, asset liability management, finance, investments, underwriting, emerging actuarial issues, technology, data analysis and auditing.



In this rotation, you will work for the Affiliated Insurance Company Investment Management (AICIM) team which is responsible for overseeing the management of the MetLife General Account investment portfolios, providing a critical component of the asset-liability management (ALM) process. The investment portfolios support a variety of insurance and investment products sold globally by MetLife. Portfolios are primarily comprised of fixed income securities, but also include real estate and other equity investments. Portfolios are managed in an ALM and relative value framework, balancing both current income and total return needs.



The mission of the AICIM group is to develop portfolio management / ALM solutions that help meet company economic, risk, capital and growth objectives. The groups objectives are: to design portfolio/ALM strategy, to identify, analyze and solve issues and opportunities, to construct portfolio strategy for new business pricing and product development, and to leverage the global ALM governance process.



**The Quantitative Analysis Team** within the AICIM is responsible for:



1. Providing quantitative analysis and modeling in support of Asset allocation decision making and strategy development for:

1. MetLifes own (AIC) portfolios; as well as

2. In support of insurance portfolio advisory services provided by MetLife Investment Management (MIM) for third party clients;

2. Building management tools to enhance global portfolio decision making;

3. Maintaining processes, assumptions and techniques to support new business pricing; and

4. Performing research and building investment strategies to address broad enterprise issues and objectives



**Key Responsibilities:**



+ Support the new business pricing guidance (weekly achievables) process.

+ Support the customized pricing guidance process for jumbo PRT business.

+ Support initiatives to solve portfolio and risk management issues and/or seize earnings opportunities.

+ Work with MetLife AICIM portfolio managers, MIM specialists, ALM and ERM specialists, middle office and IT professionals to build and maintain tools to that measure risk and exposures with respect to: income, required capital, liquidity, rates, and currency.

+ This position is a rotational position with the MetLife Actuarial Development Program (ADP) This individual would be provided study time and would be expected to meet ADP requirements of with respect to sitting-for and passing actuarial exams.



**Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:**



Required:



+ 2+ years of experience in an entry level actuarial role.

+ Strong quantitative and modeling skills.

+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

+ Ability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities.



Preferred:



+ Proficiency with VBA, Visual Studio, SQL server and/ or Access platforms.

+ ALM and investment strategy experience is a plus.
