Position Description

The primary function of the Senior Accounts Payable Coordinator is to manage all processing of the accounts payable invoices and subcontract applications for the National Power and Industrial Operating group on a regular and timely schedule. Perform various accounting tasks in the corporate or regional office setting, to insure accurate and timely completion of work within one or more functions such as: accounts payable and general accounting. On a large complex project, assist the Field Administrative Supervisor in coordinating the accounting work for the project.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Make practical applications found in accounting standards and procedures for routine transactions.
  • Assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of one or more sub-functions such as: accounts payable, general accounting, and related administrative duties.
  • Process and place in line for payment vendor or contractor invoices, client invoices, equipment rental charges, back charges.
  • Resolve discrepancies by interfacing with project managers, corporate personnel, vendors, contractors and clients.
  • Assist in monitoring project cost reports.
  • Maintain records for follow-up on open transactions and request assistance from supervisors when these transactions are not closed by the due date.
  • Make recommendations to supervisor for cost effective methods of accomplishing specific functions.
  • Prepare special reports and complete other projects as directed.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, or activities may be assigned at any time.

Qualifications & Experience

Preferred

A four-year degree in accounting or business plus a minimum of eight years construction accounting experience or the equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of general construction accounting, auditing, and invoicing required. Performs duties and functions with limited outside guidance. Incumbent may be responsible for major financial transactions dependent on size of area or project.

Travel is not required for this position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and hear. Employee frequently uses computer keyboard, regularly travels (as vehicle driver and as passenger on various modes of transportation), and occasionally performs work on-site at construction work sites. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor frequently.
