Minimum Experience
  • Major/minor in specified science discipline with overall outstanding academic performance.
  • Experience as a tutor or teaching assistant as an undergraduate.


Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College preferred and will be given preference.
  • Major in biology, chemistry or computer science preferred.

This position is a 12-month term position.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities:

  • Attend assigned courses in specified science department (Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science).
  • Work with faculty teaching these courses to develop adjunctive teaching strategies.
  • Tutor class participants in study groups and one-on-one meetings.
  • Assist in the development of teaching tools (e.g. tutorials, problem sets, web-based teaching & evaluative tools).
  • Function as a general resource for any student seeking assistance in study strategies in the sciences.
  • Assist in the development and assessment of the overall Fellows program.
  • Work with director and other faculty to coordinate activities of the Fellows with science departments and with the housing communities.
  • Work with centers that provide support for students in the sciences (e.g. Dartmouth Center for the Advancement of Learning ( DCAL ), First Year Student Enrichment Program, Health Professions Program, Academic Skills Center, Tutor Clearing House) to coordinate activities.
  • Participate in summer training program and attend training sessions to enhance pedagogical skills (e.g., at DCAL ).
