The QA Accessibility Automation Software Test Engineer is responsible for verifying adherence to the W3C WCAG 2.0 standards as well as compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Section 508, and other accessibility related laws. This person also works as an individual contributor in delivering the automation strategy for the Accessibility QA team.


As an Accessibility QA Testing Software Engineer you will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Performing all testing activities for initiatives across one or more assigned projects, utilizing processes, methods, metrics and software that ensure accessibility for all customer facing applications
  • Understanding the interfacing applications, test environments and our tools and methodologies     
  • Test strategy formulation will include decomposing the business and technical requirements into test case scenarios, defining test data requirements, managing test case creation, devising contingencies plans and other preparation activities. 
  • Development of the test strategy and automated test scripts, test case execution, managing issues, and status metrics. 
  • Communicating effectively with business units, IT Development, Project Management and other support staff on testing timelines, deliverables, status and other information.
  • Assessing risk to the project based on the execution and validation and making appropriate recommendations
  • Ability to interpret quality audits, drive improvements and change, and facilitate test methodology discussions across the business unit
  • Working in partnership with the larger Digital Automation group and the Accessibility SME’s in delivering the automation roadmap
  • Assisting with training needs including automation approach and improvements
  • Identifying and creating risk mitigation activities, and developing and implementing process improvements


 

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
  •  BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  •  Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture  disciplines
  • Understanding of architecture and design across all systems  
  • Working proficiency in developmental toolsets
  • Knowledge of industry wide technology trends and best practices 
  • Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals, and passionate about building an innovative culture 
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages testing tools such as:   Selenium Web-Driver,  Cucumber, SOAPUI, Postman, JMeter and Blazemeter
  • Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, develoment, maintenance, and software improvement
  • 5 plus years of quality assurance experience (system testing, planning / coordinating test activities, overseeing test case development and defect resolution, use of ALM or JIRA)
  • Experience in testing life cycle with planning/coordinating testing activites, overseeing test case development and defect resolution
  • Experience with HP's Application Lifecycle Management or JIRA
  • 3-5 plus years of hands-on scripting experience in any of the automation testing tools such as QTP, Selenium web-driver, Cucumber or other similar tools
  • Experience working with Assistive technology (AT), JAWS, NVDA (Screen reader), Code review in HTML5 and Color Contrast Analyzer are desired
  • Knowledge of US ADA and W3C WCAG 2.0 standards
  • Scrum team and Agile experience strongly desired 
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills required
  • Ability to work independently, in a team, and with or without direction is imperative
