This position provides overall management and leadership for industrial construction projects in the power and/or automotive industry. The focus of this role is to create highly effective teams in an industrial, construction project setting. This person makes many decisions that greatly affect client relationships and profitability. Has the ability to act without close supervision.

This position reports into Boldt's Wixom, MI office, however, the assigned projects for this position are power and automotive projects generally located in the Southeastern and Midwest United States. This position requires the full-time presence at the location of the project assignment. Travel is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project leadership for establishing, implementing and full supporting a proactive project safety culture within the boundaries of Boldt corporate policy.
  • Implement collaborative production planning techniques to ensure accountability of the Project Team members as it relates to the customers’ requirements.
  • Proactively manage projects to ensure uninterrupted work flow especially self-performance activities.
  • Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of on-site Superintendent and Project Managers to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Represent company in project meetings, assist in project labor relations activities, safety program, strategy meetings, etc.
  • Proactively manage financial aspects of project including but not limited to contracts, purchase orders, contingency, scope revisions, labor, equipment, billings, and receivables to achieve defined project goals.
  • Collaboratively work with customer and project team, to ensure that customers’ needs and expectations are being met, while working within the confines of the project budget and schedule.
  • Look for ways to enhance the processes and provide innovative solutions for betterment of the company.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures through performance standards within Boldt corporate policy.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities vital; superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills is essential.


Four year construction management, engineering degree or equivalent, plus extensive experience/knowledge of construction, design, finance and management required. Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance. Candidate must have project management experience on mid-to-large projects in the power (gas, coal-fired) and/or automotive industry.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to walk and reach with hands. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee frequently uses computer keyboard, regularly travels (as vehicle driver and as passenger on various modes of transportation), and occasionally performs work on-site at construction work sites. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor frequently.
