Overview

American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), a membership organization dedicated to the advancement of women's health care in Washington, DC, is currently seeking a Program Specialist, Quality & Safety to provide a full-range of services supporting activities of the Department of Quality and Safety, including administration of activities of the Committee on Patient Safety and Quality Improvement, the Council on Patient Safety in Women's Health Care, and the American Board of Medical Specialty Societies' Multispecialty Portfolio Program.



Responsibilities

  • Work with Program Director and PSQI Officer to provide support and management for the activities of the Council on Patient Safety in Women's Health Care and the Committee on Patient Safety and Quality Improvement. Ensures that the projects and activities of the Council and Committee are effectively supported and executed. Projects include the Safety Action Series, National Improvement Challenge and National Improvement Video Challenge, social media accounts and website, as well as clinical content-specific workgroups.
  • Research medical literature and online resources related to Council and Committee interests; retrieve articles from online databases such as PubMed; coordinate with the Resource Center; and maintain an electronic library of culled articles. Maintain working knowledge of the College's resources, guidelines, and publications.
  • Work closely with program coordinator on preparations for Council and Committee meetings as well as any workgroup meetings and conference calls. Send out meeting notices, maintain rosters, coordinate hotel arrangements and transportation, reserve in-house meeting space and catering, make arrangements for any audiovisual equipment, prepare electronic agenda books, and provide on-site support for the Council, Committee, and staff members.
  • Assist with follow-up on Council, Committee, workgroup, and department actions, including: revising documents, preparing, proofreading, finalizing correspondence, and maintaining document files.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with multiple external organizations, specialty societies, and agencies interested in quality improvement and patient safety including industry, consumers and communities, payors, federal and state government stakeholders, and multiple internal departments.
  • Support process for ABMS MSPP participation. Work with PSQI Officer to identify eligible QI efforts and participants, maintain MSPP policies and procedures manual, participant tools and oversee program promotional plan, maintain working technical knowledge of online Maintenance of Certification Activity Manager (MOCAM) and troubleshoot basic issues for participants. Serve a liaison for ABMS MSPP Manager, ABOG MOC Program Coordinator and ACOG MSPP participants.
  • Provides assistance on special projects as needed.
