We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Disability Support Services Program Assistant.

Reporting to the Manager of Disability Support Services (DSS), the DSS Program Assistant plays a key role in supporting the services and outreach of EWU's Disability Support Services. This position will be responsible for advancing the vision and direction of Student Life and the Disability Support Services Team through program development, program assessment, excellent service and collaborating with programs and departments across campus as well as in the Cheney and Spokane communities with respect to student support and case management.

The DSS Program Assistant partners with the Manager in all DSS operational, administrative, and programmatic endeavors. Critical skills needed include sensitivity to and awareness of confidential information, excellent time and project management, experience with graphic and web design, event planning, and ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment. This position contributes directly to the persistence and retention of students by supporting the work done by Disability Support Services. A desired outcome of the data analysis being done by the Program Assistant is a better understanding of how to positively affect student persistence and retention.

This position will work a traditional schedule. Anticipated work hours are 8am to 5pm. Some periodic work outside these traditional hours will be required.

Given the nature of the DSS focus, the DSS Program Assistant works closely with: Faculty, Housing and Residential Life; Student Affairs; EWU Police Dept., Student Care Team; Counseling and Psychological Services; Health, Wellness and Prevention Services; Student Rights and Responsibilities; and other key campus and university partners.

Eastern Washington University is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer, and applications from members of historically underrepresented groups are especially encouraged.</p> <br /> <p> </p> <br /><br /><br /> <p> </p> <img src="https://analytics.click2apply.net/v/V7dRJnfzlpgGT658ub7Ly"> <br/><br/><strong>Required Qualifications</strong>: <ul> <li>High school diploma or <span class="caps">GED</span></li> <li>Two (2) years progressively responsible professional clerical experience or related experience</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to gather data, analyze, and prepare reports</li> <li>Competency in written and verbal communication</li> <li>Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures</li> <li>Strong computer skills, including experience with designing graphics, web content organization, data analysis, and mastery of MS Office Suite.</li> <li>Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability, and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, disability services, and/or diversity</li> </ul> <p><strong>Position Specific Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Six (6) months of experience providing support services, such as assisting in registration, career selection, employment, accommodations, or attendance procedures for adult students with disabilities in an educational program setting <strong>OR</strong></li> <li>One (1) year of experience in a general office setting combined with experience working with individuals with disabilities in an educational setting utilizing a case management database and a wide range of accommodations.</li> <li>Act calmly and effectively in emergencies and when working with challenging students.</li> <li>Ability to learn to adapt approach in interpersonal communication based on disability-specific needs.</li> <li>Familiarity with disability nondiscrimination laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act.</li> </ul> <strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong>: <ul> <li>Associates or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited academic institution</li> <li>Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in student life, student affairs, Disability services, <strong>OR</strong> an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.</li> <li>Demonstrated experience with <span class="caps">AIM</span></li> <li>Training or experience in: American Sign Language</li> </ul> <br /><br /><br /><p>PI115192640</p>
