Amgen Pre-Pivotal Drug Substance Technologies Organization is seeking an Associate Scientist responsible for cell line development in support of advancing Amgen pre-clinical large molecule pipeline.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and characterize manufacturing cell lines, including DNA cloning, transfection, selection, subcloning, passaging, screening, banking, and genetic characterization
  • Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Analyze and interpret data
  • Generate written reports and communicate project updates as appropriate
  • Implement innovative methods to improve expression technologies
  • Generate relevant data toward publications, patent applications, and regulatory submissions


Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree by June 2020 with 2 years of scientific experience

OR

Bachelor's degree with 4 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in life science, chemical engineering, or related fields with 5+ years of relevant scientific experience
  • Previous industrial hands on experience in cell culture with a focus on recombinant protein production in mammalian cells
  • Strong understanding of cell biology, molecular biology, and protein engineering
  • Experience with automation for use in high throughput cell culture
  • Proficiency using data analysis and visualization software
  • Scientifically driven mindset and the ability to explore and develop novel technologies and approaches
  • Excellence in communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proactive leadership mindset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • Additional experience in any of these areas: genetic engineering, media optimization, and vector design
