As a Principal RD Development Engineer, you will design and develop life-saving medical device products. Key responsibilities include product development via developing/implementing computational (FEA) models and overseeing related bench-testing both at the material level as well as the product level. You will actively seek out Voice of the Customer (VOC) input and translate into design concepts and further optimize using computational tools. You may work as a functional core team member in a project or as a technical expert across multiple projects. The product focus will be on neurovascular implant/stent systems.


**Day in the life:**

Design medium to high complexity neurovascular medical devices with a focus on the implant/stent as well as related delivery system interactions

Develops and applies Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software to model the implant and delivery system

Anticipates, develops, and implements new computational modeling techniques keeping in perspective downstream product pipeline

Develop and oversee material level tests for providing inputs to the computational model, as well bench-tests at the device level in order to validate the model

Apply relevant standards and guidance documents to implement the computational models and related bench-tests

Contribute inventions, new designs and techniques regarded as advances in the medical and technical/scientific community.

Participate in pre-clinical in vivo labs, observing cases in hospitals and through planned and unplanned customer interactions.

Write technical reports to support regulatory submissions. Create presentations for communicating results to cross-functional team and management.

Provide leadership, training and mentorship to less experienced team members.

Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks/projects with a strong problem-solving ability.

Adhere to safety policy procedures.


**Must Have: Minimum Qualifications**

- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline or related technical field

- 7+ years of experience with Bachelors Degree OR 5+ years of experience with an Advanced Degree


**Nice to Have**

10+ years of engineering experience

6+ years of computational (FEA) modeling experience (preferably with Abaqus) applied to intravascular device implants such as stents, stent-grafts or heart-valves

Understanding of clinical and regulatory pathways, IP and internal processes

Expertise with variety of metals used for vascular implants including nitinol and cobalt-chromium alloys, including knowledge of related manufacturing processes and bench-tests

Demonstrated ability to take initiative in keeping current with technology developments in area of computational modeling

Ability to effectively communicate and work cooperatively with others as a lead member of a team.

Demonstrated experience sharing information, status, needs, and issues with others in order to inform, gain input, and support decision-making.

Experience with neurovascular products and landscape

In-depth knowledge of neurovascular anatomy
