•This job is to be part of the Information Technology team within the Customer Technology Division.
•As Principal Architect you will be responsible for thought leadership, analysis, transforming, modeling, mentoring, and socialization of solution architecture of products and product features across applications used by Reservations agents at American Airlines.
•You will lead architecture efforts to pave the way for delivering solutions.
•You will collaborate with different architects and leads on current and future strategic efforts.
•You have demonstrated significant expertise in transforming large scale enterprise initiatives from monolithic state to nimble and highly responsive micro service architecture.


 

What you'll do

• Develop the solution architecture and guide us with the transformation of our existing monolith solution to a state that is nimble and compliant with DevOps principles.
• Define, target, and lead adoption and migration to new and emerging technologies
• Lead, influence, and establish technology standards
• Drive progress towards technology target roadmaps
• Collaborate and mentor other architects in ‘ResAgent’ product for consistency in delivery
• Closely collaborate with delivery team regarding current and future solutions and assists ensuring optimal solutions are delivered.
• Coordinate compliance with and development of information systems architecture standards for contact center technologies
• Develop architecture artifacts like logical architecture, configuration architecture, and data architecture and deployment/physical architecture views as part of solution.
• Create and help promote patterns/techniques to foster DevOps adoption
• Deliver and maintain artifacts and work products in support of the architecture review, software development, and steady state operations
• Actively participate in requirements analysis, proof of concepts, RFI & RFP processes, project funding, and solution design and delivery
• Work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize efforts to meet expectations.

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology , Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 10 years of large application experience
  • 5 years architectural and design experience

 

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology , Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • Airline industry experience
  • Knowledge of airline business systems preferred
  • Experience in transitioning from Project to Product preferred
  • Experience with diagnostics / testing tools (New Relic, Splunk, Dynatrace, LISA, SOAP UI) preferred

 

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

• 5 years Java SE, Java EE,  Spring and cloud experience (preferably IBM Bluemix or Azure)
• Experience with cloud containers (Dockers, Kubernetes)
• Demonstrated experience in transforming large scale applications from older technology to newer technology stack that supports DevOps principles.
• Experience in working with solutions to support reservations or contact center preferably in Airlines business.
• Strong knowledge of object oriented design principles, Java EE or Spring, SOA, Web Services, Hibernate/JPA, JDBC, JAXB, EJB, XML, IBM WebSphere application server, tcServer, Oracle and UNIX
• Experience and/ or familiarity with TDD, Microservices architecture, JavaScript MVC frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with cloud patterns and security
• Must be well versed in software development life cycle methodologies with emphasis on Agile product development including incorporation of Quality Assurance & Testing techniques
• Must be experienced with Relational Databases
• Strong understanding of PCI, SOX, PII and security processes and standards
• Ability to explain technical concepts and adjust messaging based on the audience, including non-technical groups
• Position requires occasional 24/7 Level 2/3 on call support
• Good working Sabre knowledge is of great advantage
