  • This position is part of the Flight Attendant Technology organization within the Airlines Operations Technology division. 
  • The successful candidate will assume a Principal Architect position within a skilled and experienced team providing application, solution, and enterprise architecture services to the Crew related products.
What you'll do
  • Individual Accountabilities
  • Create and document: vision, strategy, standards, policies, patterns, service architectures and presentations
  • Sustaining a technical roadmap that aligns with the business vision for supported domains
  • Creating or evaluating solution and integration architectures for technical viability alignment with product requirements
  • Apply technology to reduce costs and/or improve productivity resulting in value to the company
  • Determining problem scoping and sizing on new projects
  • Review and validate technical work assignments for services while removing barriers that prevent productivity
  • Communicates a clear technical roadmap on the optimal application of technology to products and services to various stakeholders, including executives, business sponsors, delivery teams and managers, and other technical staff
  • Leverages work across the business domains in order to align efforts and create synergies
  • Understand end-to-end implementation of technology domain
  • Stay up-to-date with and evaluate technology and best practices
  • Develops prototypes and concepts for new technologies and ideas with little or no guidance
  • Evaluates and creates new tools and techniques to facilitate effective development practices
  • Collaborate with the development teams to refine and confirm the usefulness of the architecture during construction
  • Mentors the development team and promotes ideas for useful new projects and technologies
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology , Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 8 years of application systems development experience 
  • 5 years architectural and design experience
  • Strong technical expertise in tiered and distributed architectures, Service Oriented Architecture, Micro-Service Architecture, J2EE, Messaging platforms, Relational/NoSQL Databases, Big Data, Application Servers, HTML5 frameworks, UNIX, Linux, Windows, as well as web development and Object-Oriented methodologies
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems, networking, virtualization, load balancing, database, enterprise authentication and single sign on
  • Knowledge with version control / source code management systems
  • Knowledge with formal build and release management workflows, tools, and activities
  • Proficient in Agile and SDLC methodologies

 

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology , Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • Airline industry experience, specifically airline flight operations/crew management
  • Airline industry experience, specifically airline flight operations/crew management
  • Hands-on experience in systems development in a variety of computing architectures and environments
  • Hands-on experience with cloud deployment patterns, micro-services architecture, real time analytics, and big data
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps tool chains, Agile Methodologies, Microsoft Azure, IBM BlueMix/Cloud, Kubernetes and Docker Containers
  • Significant experience in requirements analysis and use case development, with a thorough understanding of software development life cycles, development and technology tools, testing methodologies, and requirements gathering.
  • Experience with the operations characteristics of large scale and highly available computer systems deployed in a variety of software and hardware environments
     

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Proven ability to build strong and sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Hands-on experience in systems development in a variety of computing architectures and environments; proven experience with conceptual strategy and direction
  • Proficient in Agile and SDLC methodologies
  • Proficient in application architecture and design
  • Knowledge of IBM MQ, IIB, and/or SOA
  • Significant experience in requirements analysis and use case development, with a thorough understanding of software development life cycles, development and technology tools, testing methodologies, and requirements gathering
  • Experience supporting and directing technical architecture for supported business domains
  • Passion for change and continual improvement with ability to effectively lead, drive, and support change
  • Proven ability to work across multiple functional teams in the creation of business solutions
  • Experience with the operations characteristics of large scale and highly available computer systems deployed in a variety of software and hardware environments
  • Knowledge of systems integration practices and understanding of Service Oriented Architecture principles and practices
