The Senior Manager of Portfolio Coverage & Pricing is a key strategic member of the U.S. Value & Access organization, responsible for developing and executing US portfolio pricing and payer coverage strategies. This individual will engage with subject matter authorities across products and business units in all therapeutic areas while leading quantitative and qualitative analyses to support coverage and pricing objectives across Amgen's US portfolio of therapies. This individual will be directly responsible for working with Finance, Contracting, and product teams to develop new analytical and scenario planning capabilities supporting short and long-term trade-offs in coverage and pricing across products and therapeutic areas.

The Senior Manager will gather, analyze, and synthesize cross-functional insight through a variety of sources to inform strategy and support scenario-planning. In this evolving and fast-paced environment, the role will be a key support for the Market Access and Contracting teams with coverage analytics and negotiation strategy. This role interacts cross functionally with many partner teams including Coverage and Pricing in different lines of business, Ecosystems & Insights, Government Affairs, Market Access, business unit leadership, Global Learning & Performance, Finance, Accounting, and Law.

This role will require a good foundation in the U.S. healthcare market dynamics and is a good avenue to many future commercial healthcare leadership roles. Amgen has strong training, education, and mentoring programs to ensure staff are successful.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develop portfolio analytics and scenario planning road map including capabilities enabling cross-portfolio coverage and pricing scenarios
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to connect data-sets and build new scenario planning and game theory models
  • Identify portfolio bid options and analyze strategic outcomes with contracting scenarios across products
  • Lead all aspects of the US Portfolio discount rate forecasting process, pricing and contracting scenarios, contract decisions, long-range planning trade-offs, and consolidated reporting of the US portfolio
  • Lead portfolio analytics as necessary to determine viability, profitability, and recommendations regarding future coverage scenarios
  • Constructively challenge teams by providing dis-confirming information and encouraging innovative problem solving
  • Routinely interact with senior leadership and other high-level, cross functional committees or teams
  • Assist with planning and quarterly business reviews of the US portfolio
  • Triage Coverage & Pricing related questions and issues from US field team
  • Manage Coverage & Pricing budget


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

Associate's Degree and 10 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior life sciences and/or pharma industry experience
  • Previous experience building financial models and/or working with large amounts of data with qualitative and quantitative analytics
  • Previous experience in negotiation strategy, and/or game theory analysis
  • Management consulting background
  • Excellent conceptual problem-solving skills with ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem solving approach, and manage execution
  • Authoritative command of complexity and ambiguity; ability to see the big picture; and ability to collect, digest, and assemble information to drive meaningful business decisions
  • Strong leadership skills; ability to influence different styles and levels
  • Outstanding written/oral communication skills and executive presence across functions and different levels of leadership
