Vice President, Software Engineer - Splunk Monitoring SME

Job Description

As an experienced Software Engineer, you will be driving our aggressive transformation agenda that reshapes our production management capabilities in support of Agile, DevOps and Cloud.  You will be responsible for automating processes, leveraging infrastructure-as-code, monitoring-as-code, implementing monitoring and automation solutions and components including machine learning, tools, platforms, process, and policies. You will leverages the target operating model to implement a detailed vision for the Core Services organization, driving how we adapt to Agile delivery (CI/CD), and how we support applications in Cloud environments. You will have a high degree of interaction and partnership with cross-functional and cross-Chase technology teams (Application Development and Production Management teams, Infrastructure and Shared services teams) in order to define and implement the target state, leveraging best practices and tools, and implementing standards and practices that are efficient and consistent with Chase and Global Technology goals.

Key responsibilities shall include but not be limited to:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience

  • Expertise in application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines

  • Advanced knowledge of architecture, design and business processes

  • Proficiency in modern programming languages

  • Keen understanding of financial control and budget management

  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • Experience with scripting: PERL, KSH, Python, Unix, Linux, SHELL, PowerShell, JavaScript, Selenium

  • Experience with build technologies: Maven, ANT, Vagrant

  • Experience with Ansible, Jenkins, C#, .NET, Cloud, Java/J2EE Enterprise Web Development, WebSphere, Ctrl-M, Unix background, Jenkins, Chef, Automic, Black Duck, Sonar, JMeter, Jira/Confluence

  • Previous experience with Splunk in a highly-regulated, financial services environment         

  • Splunk Certification a plus

  •  Establish and ensure adoption of best practices and development standards as they relate to the Splunk platform

  • Experience operating in a DevOps environment is a plus 

  • Experience with enterprise change management policies/procedures

  • Provide overall engineering, and administration in supporting a very large distributed clustered Splunk environment consisting of search heads, indexers, deployers, deployment servers, heavy/universal forwarders

  • The candidate should be familiar with recognizing and onboarding new data sources into Splunk, analyzing the data for anomalies and trends, and building dashboards highlighting the key trends of the data. The Splunk engineer should be familiar with a Linux environment, editing and maintaining Splunk configuration files and apps

  • Preferred Qualifications: Strong problem solving abilities with an analytic and qualitative eye for reasoning under pressure Self-starter with the ability to independently prioritize and complete multiple tasks with little to no supervision Knowledge of Cloud Services such as AWS, Azure

  • Experience with Splunk SPL for event correlation, performance, security, and compliance issues

  • Automation experience with Ansible is a plus

  • Plan and test deployment of Splunk applications (Apps) and Technology Add-ins (TAs)

  • Create and maintain documentation for system changes

  • Participate in activities with enterprise change management to plan and execute changes and integrations

  • Communicate change plans and updates to Splunk user community and organizational leadership

  • Develop, implement and document configuration standards, policies, and procedures for operating, managing and ensuring the security of the Splunk infrastructure

  • Perform data integration, data transformation, field extraction, event parsing, data preview, and application management of Splunk
