Director - Software Engineering

Job Description

As a senior leader in Software Engineering, you will combine your years of proven expertise with a never-ending quest to create innovative technology through solid engineering practices. You’ll lead a highly inspired and inquisitive team of technologists who are already developing and deploying applications to the highest standards. With your deep knowledge of design, analytics, development, coding, testing and application programming, your team will raise their game even more, meeting your standards, as well as satisfying both business and functional requirements. Your passion and experience in one or more technology domains will help solve complex and mission critical problems, internally and externally. This role requires a variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
• BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
• Expert in Resource Management; Technological, Organizational and/or Operational Change Management; Portfolio Management; Conflict Resolution; Negotiation; Budget/Financial Management, including Business Case Completion; Controls; and Partnership and Influence
• Solid proficiency in one in large scale software development in one or more programming languages (Java, .Net, Pega PRC etc.) and multiple design techniques
• Advanced knowledge of development toolset to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
• Mastery of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines
• Command of architecture, design and business processes
• Knowledge of industry wide technology strategies and best practices
• Ability to lead large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals, and passionate about building an innovative culture. Direct team size of approximately 30 - 50 employees and contractors.
• Advanced knowledge of software lifecycles, Agile, and test automation strategies
• Ability to build an innovative culture
• Strategic planning (e.g., roadmap creation and execution)
• Expertise in working in partnership with colleagues throughout the firm, and in leading collaborative teams to achieve common goals
• Strong understanding of financial control and budget management
• Seasoned understanding of risk controls and compliance to departmental and companywide standards.
