Merchant Services is the global payment processing business for JPMorgan Chase & Co. The Strategic Planning Associate will work closely with the product leadership team to support financial forecasts, resource planning, budgeting, and strategic decision support. The role will report directly to the Head of Strategic Planning for the Merchant Services Product team focusing on International Expansion and Business Transformation. The individual will drive the work effort for significant initiatives (both one-time and ongoing projects) with team members drawn from across Merchant Services and product teams. An ideal candidate must be a self-starter with a proven background in business case development / management, corporate budgeting, and cross-functional collaboration. Additionally, an ability to problem solve in a consultative nature with is imperative.

Key Priorities:
  • Act as the subject-matter-expert for all financials related to international expansion and platform development including proactively managing associated business cases, financial models and budget submissions as required
  • Oversee product resource planning both internationally and domestically including translation of business expectations into resource requirements, evaluating organization structure, measuring product and technology alignment / effectiveness, and ensuring adherence to plan
  • Product KPIs / Reporting: Develop KPIs and associated reporting / tracking for product performance and P&L accountability
  • Act as revenue manager for internal and external partnerships including identification of key risks, cost drivers / sensitivities, and contractual commitments
  • Ability to proactively translate strategic direction into execution including but not limited to: new market planning and analysis, bottoms-up forecasting aligned to feature roadmaps, and pricing strategy
  • Ability to develop and articulate well thought out business cases and their financial/bottom line impacts
  • Drive significant product/partner development based on business objectives
  • Partners effectively across functional areas
  • Develops crisp and concise presentations for senior management
  • Fosters an environment where risk/control issues are escalated, and trends are anticipated and identified
  • Other reporting activities as needed
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Typically requires 4-6 years of experience (1-2 years post-MBA), with at least 2 years in payments, technology, e-commerce or financial services
  • Must haves include: Strong financial analytics skills, business case / budget management experience, talent for communication of complex business topics, and general business strategy acumen
  • Ideal candidate to have exposure to product development processes and understanding of product development lifecycle
  • Proficiency in visualization tools (Tableau) is required
  • An outstanding ability to apply quantitative analytical approaches, communicate effectively (both verbally and written), and work well in cross-functional teams
  • Talent for communication of complex business topics required
