Role

 

The Middle Market credit team at JPMorgan partners with the sales organization to provide lending products and services to our targeted client base.  As a Vice President Underwriting Manager, your primary role is managing a team of underwriters within the Dallas Underwriting Center located in Plano and approval of credit transactions.

 

Responsibilities                                                                                                                                                                    

 

  • Manages a team of underwriters, providing coaching and development
  • Contributes to the organization through projects, coaching, recruiting, and staffing
  • Partners with banking team for markets covered
  • Helps monitor/manage ongoing performance/risk of broader portfolio
  • Independently applies strong credit knowledge, policy expertise, and analytical abilities to approval of new requests, renewals and annual reviews. 
  • Has developed knowledge of the specifics of the business unit and/or products being supported.
  • Enthusiastically and effectively helps drives needed change through organization

 

Minimum Skills Required

 

  • Strong understanding of primary credit products (revolving lines of credit, term loans, commercial cards, etc.) and operating exposures (ACH, intra-day limits, etc.). Thrives in a fast paced environment specializing in clients with $20MM-100MM in revenue.
  • Possesses strong accounting and finance knowledge, and has extensive commercial banking experience. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent partnerships and relationships throughout the CB, including bankers, TS, derivatives, implementations, ACH and funds control, internal counsel, service, support groups, etc.
  • Requires impeccable organization skills, attention to detail, and highly efficient work methods.
  • The ability to voice an opinion in a clear, concise manner and to defend that position with various stakeholders.
  • Flexibility and the ability to identify larger opportunities and to effect warm hand-offs as appropriate to other team members.
  • Existing knowledge of Chase infrastructure on products and services a plus.


Qualifications

  • 6+ years professional banking experience
  • BA/BBA/MBA and completion of a formal major corporate/commercial bank credit analyst training program (or the equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance experience)
  • Minimum of 2-5 years commercial underwriting /banking/lending experience which might include credit, structuring and marketing
