Commercial Banking (CB), one of JPMorgan Chase & Co’s four lines of businesses, provides a full range of services including lending, treasury services, investment banking, commercial card and asset management products to meet its clients’ domestic and international financial needs. MMBSI Analytics & Reporting

Within CB, Middle Market Banking & Specialized Industries (MMBSI) serves commercial and industrial U.S. companies with annual revenue from $20 million to $500 million. The MMBSI Analytics & Reporting Team, part of MMBSI Finance & Business Management, is responsible for the management of strategic data initiatives within the Middle Market business and for broad data governance and reporting (MIS), and advanced analysis of business performance.

MMBSI Business Intelligence & Analytics Associate

J.P. Morgan is seeking talented candidates for a position as a Business Intelligence & Analytics Associate in our Middle Market Banking & Specialized Industries (MMBSI) group. An associate on the team will have the opportunity to work on high impact data, analytics & reporting related initiatives for the MMBSI organization.


Your primary responsibilities as an associate will be assisting with the development of various performance and operations related analytics initiatives.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong passion for business intelligence, advanced data analysis and data visualization techniques with ability to drive related capabilities using advanced data extraction, mining and analysis tools (off the shelf as well as open source).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to distill information into simple concepts and actionable insights.
  • Experience participating or leading BI/Analytics/Reporting development projects to drive operating efficiency.
  • The ability to source, extract and mine data from multiple sources, and experience integrating data models/streams into BI tools.
  • A strong understanding of data management and current tools and processes.
Primary Responsibilities  
  • Gather, synthesize, analyze and present data and actionable insights; recommend next steps and actions.
  • Data extraction / mining / modeling using R, Alteryx and Python.
  • Compile and present information using data visualization tools such as QlikSense / Tableau / D3 / R.
  • Manage data wrangling & data integrity processes ensuring quality information delivery.
  • Interact with stakeholders throughout the organization on data Management Initiatives. Documenting requirements and translating to actionable insight generation.
  • Provide development support on MMBSI business reporting requirements, such as data requirements identification and documentation.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to handle multiple simultaneous efforts.
  • 4 years of experience, preferably in financial services.
  • Ability to understand business problems/processes, design solutions/methodologies rooted in data and effectively communicate insights/recommendations (verbal and written).
  • Ability to design and execute repeatable and scalable data solutions (extraction/ mining / modeling).
  • Advanced SQL experience (required). Aptitude for data and database management.
  • Experience with data mining and programming tools. Strong preference for experience with R, Python and Alteryx
  • Experience in developing visualizations using QlikSense / Tableau / D3 / R.
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities to improve outcomes.
  • Team player with a demonstrated work ethic - consistently demonstrates a high level of professionalism in behavior and performance. Ability to work well in cross-functional teams.
  • Effective prioritization skills to meet a complex set of business demands and demonstrate delivery against multiple objectives.
