 Wholesale Credit Risk Management (WCR) is responsible for lending activities and other counterparty related credit exposures. The group is based in Plano, TX, and the teams are aligned by industry. Wholesale Credit Risk Managers lead the client credit relationship in partnership with Coverage and Product business colleagues.

The Risk Team manages exposure to a primarily investment-grade client base consisting of super-regional, multistate, and single state banks, credit card processors, and public finance clients (including healthcare, higher education and other non-profit entities).  Responsibilities include assisting the underwriters on diligence, structuring, risk grading, and the on-going monitoring and management of a diverse and complex portfolio of risk, taxable and tax-exempt credit structures, extensive derivatives and securities trading relationships, intraday liquidity facilities, and other traditional credit  products.  Analyst responsibilities also include collaborating across credit risk and the business teams to meet client credit requests, while balancing the risk-return needs of the Firm.  They constantly assist in monitoring the portfolio to accurately assign risk ratings to clients and facilities, and elevate issues to senior team members


Specifically, an Analyst in Wholesale Credit Risk Financial Institutions or Public Finance  works directly with Underwriters and Credit Executives on the following:

  • Monitors a portfolio of clients focused on both primary and operating exposure 
  • Develop credit expertise in structuring facilities and negotiating legal documentation on transactions
  • Collaborate with deal teams including product partners (e.g. traders, IB coverage, CB Coverage) and legal counsel
  • Prepare credit approval packages including financial models as well as documents related to client monitoring
  • Authors credit analysis and seeks approval for transactions for lending and trading exposures
  • Proactively manage clients including recommending internal risk ratings
  • Develop a well-informed and forward looking view of the client business
  • Stay current on all aspects of the assigned credit portfolio, including industry trends, portfolio performance, compliance with covenants, potential risks and opportunities
  • Present credit views and recommendations to senior leaders
  • Process and oversee credit setup, coordinating actively with operations and/or the middle office
  • Lead ad hoc team projects
  • Help drive and support innovation and continuous efficiency improvements
