Director - Software Engineering

Job Description

As a senior leader in Software Engineering, you will combine your years of proven expertise with a never-ending quest to create innovative technology. Senior Technology Lead will be responsible for Chase’s highly critical Small Business Agenda. She / he will be expected to partner with Chase’s leaders to create and execute the Card Technology strategy and will be accountable to Business and Technology leaders for end to end application scoping, planning, development, implementation and post-implementation maintenance and support.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
• Ability to lead large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals, and passionate about building an innovative culture.
• Strategic planning (e.g., roadmap creation and execution)
• Experience in large scale software development in one or more programming languages
• Track record in hiring and managing high caliber technology talent - coach staff, conduct performance reviews and appraisals, personal development planning and promoting effective teamwork
• Mastery of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
• Advanced knowledge of architecture, design and business processes.
• Communicating complex technical concepts to stakeholders in an easy-to-understand manner
• Research, recommend, and support new standards, experiments, innovations and upgrades
• Responsible to develop and implement technology business processes based on JPMC/ industry-best practices.
• Keen understanding of financial control and budget management.


• Advanced knowledge of development toolset to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software.
• BS in Computer Science or closely related degree.
• Over 10 years of relevant industry experience, with 5 years of hands-on software engineering leadership and people management experience. Global team leadership experience a plus.
• Working experience with managing Distributed and Mainframe teams.
• Solid proficiency in one in large scale software development with experience using modern technology (e.g. Java, Cassandra, Kafka) and design patterns (e.g. microservices, APIs)
• Advanced knowledge of development toolset to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
• Advanced knowledge of software lifecycles, Agile, and test automation strategies
• Experience developing and deploying complex data applications

Preferred Skills:
• Financial industry experience with exposure to credit card management systems in large scale/high volume industry is big plus
