Chase Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) serves consumers and small businesses with a broad range of financial services, including personal banking, small business banking and lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance and investment advice. Consumer & Community Banking Risk Management partners with each CCB sub-line of business to identify, assess, prioritize and remediate risk. Types of risk that occur in consumer businesses include fraud, reputation, operational, credit, market and regulatory, among others

 

Portfolio Risk Modeling is a center of excellence within CCB Risk Modeling, responsible for designing and developing portfolio risk models which will be used to support the corporate’s various stress testing, credit loss allowance and capital planning exercises (such as CCAR/Budget/CECL/Risk Appetite/Basel) for consumer product portfolios within CCB (e.g. Home Lending, Auto Finance and Business Banking).   

 

The Portfolio Risk Modeler will be a key member of the Portfolio Risk Modeling team. The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end model design and development. The candidate will build a solid understanding of various consumer products and key risk drivers and use that to further enhance the models.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Design, develop, test and validate statistical/economic models for portfolio risk, including probability of default, loss given default, and exposure at default as well as other risk components
  • Utilize state-of-the-art modeling techniques including both classical statistical modeling approaches and modern machine learning approaches to enhance existing models and tackle challenging modeling problems
  • Manage end-to-end model development process, including data manipulation, exploratory data analysis and pattern discovery, model development and refinement, documentation, assisting with implementation, and performance monitoring
  • Collaborate with cross functional partners in Risk, Finance, Technology, Model Governance throughout the entire modeling lifecycle

Qualifications
  • PhD Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Operations Research); Master degree with at least two years of relevant working experience 

  • Strong data analysis and statistical/economic modeling experience, such as generalized linear models, multivariate analysis and time series analysis

  • Proficiency in advanced analytical languages (e.g. SAS, Python, R); Familiarity with framework of machine learning pipeline (e.g. tensor flow, scikit-learn) is not required but a plus

  • Ability to work with large data and perform extensive analysis to draw useful insights

  • Strong communication skills to present to and collaborate with business partners and model end-users 

  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills with demonstrated ability to manage expectations and deliver quality results on time

  • Prior experience in risk analytics/financial/credit area is not required but a plus
