CCB Risk

Chase Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) serves consumers and small businesses with a broad range of financial services, including personal banking, small business banking and lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance and investment advice. Consumer & Community Banking Risk Management partners with each CCB sub-line of business to identify, assess, prioritize and remediate risk. Types of risk that occur in consumer businesses include fraud, reputation, operational, credit, market and regulatory, among others

Dealer Commercial Services (DCS) is a commercial lending unit of Consumer & Community Banking, Chase Auto Finance.  We specialize in lending to new car dealers in the US with sales ranging from small business to public auto dealerships.  We provide floor plan, real estate, acquisition and commercial loans, along with cash management, derivatives and wealth management.  We are one of the largest bank-owned floor plan lenders in the US. 


The Chief Commercial Officer is a senior management position that should possess superior commercial lending knowledge and analytical abilities.  A successful candidate must possess a strong understanding of the auto industry, dealership operations, and broader economic cycles.  The candidate should have a strong risk management background and have knowledge of credit policies, pricing/scoring, risk reporting (e.g. KRIs), concentration limits (e.g. Risk Appetite) and risk oversight functions. The CCO will be expected to oversee the day to day Dealer Commercial Services operations as well as approve and structure deals appropriately within your credit authority.  In addition, this manager will lead the DCS analytical team in providing detailed reporting and analytics, to drive decisions, manage and influence business priorities.  Top candidates will work closely with the DCS Chief Risk Officer in implementing a critical risk management framework to manage our risks and identify opportunities for growing Dealer Commercial Services.  The individual should also have prior experience delivering broad and complex projects, effectively communicating and interacting with senior business partners, thinking creatively to solve problems, and thriving in a fast paced environment.  He/she will drive and proactively manage multiple deliverables simultaneously, spanning various Risk Management and Chase Auto topics.  The candidate will need to effectively engage with senior leadership and cross-functional partners, be detail oriented, diligent, and confident in relationship management.


Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Partner with the DCS Chief Risk Officer to execute on strategic, cross-organization initiatives
  • Serve as key point of contact for all central requests from Risk, CCB, and Auto Leadership
  • Oversight of DCS Governance forums, and executive reporting across Chase Auto Risk
  • Portfolio Management: provide on-going oversight of credit management activities with a focus on early warning concerns, guidance on policy issues, procedures and risk ratings
  • Credit Approval: ensure credit integrity of transaction, effectively maintain credible challenges with the business and ability to present and support recommendations to Senior management
  • Refine and enhance strategic reports to effectively leverage analytical capacity and drive transparency throughout Auto and the Risk organization
  • Leading an effective team: be a change leader for your direct reports and assist with the mentoring, coaching, and providing on-going training and development of staff
  • Assessing and implementing improved processes and new technologies, and collaborating with management regarding the implementation of these improvements.
  • Establish workgroups with critical partners across the DCS business, conduct detailed requirement sessions to identify core metrics which are critical when monitoring for dealer risks (KPIs/KRIs), create a detailed design of the portfolio management framework.
  • Identify and manage the implementation of the proper business intelligence tools which will provide and enhance management reports (aka Dashboards), ensuring robust portfolio risk management and comprehensive views into the dealer body. 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree preferred 

  • A minimum of 10+ years’ experience in Commercial lending, including making credit decisions, management new originations, portfolio management and risk mitigation.

  • Strong knowledge of Commercial lending with experience and past credit authority

  • Understanding an experience in providing control oversight and relevant operating risk oversight in the Commercial lending space.

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the business

  • Demonstrated experience in managing large teams.

  • Must possess advanced problem solving skills with the ability to interpret needs of senior management and business partners and develop effective solutions
