PAG Underwriting Leader Phoenix

Job Description


As an underwriting leader of the Project Approval Group (PAG) within Chase Home Lending, you will provide leadership, guidance, and support to project underwriters.  You are responsible for meeting and exceeding company standards for productivity, quality and customer satisfaction. The leader implements performance plans designed to achieve monthly and annual goals while developing the skills of subordinates through goal-setting, delegation, training, counseling and performance management.
On a daily basis, the leader will oversee underwriter’s detailed review of condominium, attached Planned Unit Development and Cooperative project documentation received from multiple channels including Retail, Consumer Direct (CD), Correspondent, and Home Equity. Documentation includes, but is not limited to Appraisals, Budgets and Financial Statements/1120s, Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions (CC&Rs), By-Laws, Insurance Declarations, Leasehold Agreements, Project Questionnaires.
The leader will consult with internal partners to assist in determining if a project meets eligible Condo/PUD/Co-op guidelines. 



  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a leader  
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience underwriting mortgages preferably including condo or co-op transactions
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the mortgage lending business
  • Ability to analyze corporate tax returns &/or financial statements
  • Ability to analyze insurance documentation
  • Ability to analyze appraisals  
  • Familiarity with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and FHA collateral policy.
  • Excellent analytical and decision making skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate well in difficult situations
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong computer skills - Must be familiar with how to navigate a Microsoft Windows environment and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Adhere to turn time commitments while working in a high-volume environment
  • Must have excellent teamwork orientation and the ability to work independently in a fast moving environment.
  • College 4-year degree preferred
