POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for assisting the Cook in the preparation of all foods served to patients and cafeteria patrons. The Assistant Cook must comply with appropriate recipes and production sheets. The Assistant Cook is also responsible for aiding in cleaning the work area in accordance with the Department of Health requirements.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Ability to read and speak English is required. Culinary arts training preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

EXPERIENCE: 6 months to a year food preparation experience within healthcare required.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.

Requires frequent standing and stooping, as well as pushing and lifting moderately heavy to heavy things.

Requires working in adverse conditions such as: wet floors, extreme change of temperature, sharp/dangerous equipment, and hot foods and liquids.
