Reference Data Operations is aligned to the Chief Data Office (CDO) which is responsible for improving the quality, integrity, and reliability of the firm’s critical data.   The organization’s objectives are to explain the path that critical data follows, improve data quality, reduce ambiguity and inconsistent terminology, enhance transparency, rationalize the number of replicated data assets, and improve firmwide-sharing of information and best practices.  The CDO serves as the governing body to create firmwide standards that drive consistent data management practices, develop technologies and processes to support data management processes, partner with lines of business and functional groups to embed data management best practices and capabilities, and ensure sustainability by refining, measuring, and improving the firm’s ability to manage data.


One of our top priorities is to help the Firm move toward a more integrated data management strategy.  The mandate of Reference Data Operations is to manage reference data across the enterprise, establish firmwide reference data governance processes and quality standards, manage all reference data operations teams, and partner with the lines of business to drive alignment to firmwide reference data standards.  Our businesses and corporate groups rely on reference data to facilitate and execute transactions, support our clients, identify potential risks, and meet regulatory requirements.

This position is within the Enterprise Products & Services Team which is responsible for the build out, adoption, consumption, and utilization of the Enterprise Product & Services (EPS) taxonomy.  EPS is the strategic product and services taxonomy to be utilized across the firm supporting risk and finance inclusive of Market Risk, Credit Risk, Liquidity Risk, Interest Rate Risk, Finance, Quantitative Research, Model Risk Governance, Regulatory Reporting, and Lines of Businesses.


The responsibilities of this role includes but are not limited to: 

  • Develop and manage the end to end project implementation plan for their respective asset class to refine, adopt, and utilize the EPS taxonomy.
  • Partner with potential adopters and consumers of EPS to determine strategy for implementation and utilization
  • Investigate breaks identified through exception reports to identify data quality issues, new products, or mapping updates
  • Contribute to governance and strategy forum and steering committee
  • Work on special projects such as aligning EPS to industry standards or legacy taxonomies
  • Assist with identifying gaps or required changes to operating model ensuring a well-controlled production environment
  • Learn key reference data tools such as Strategic Data Maintenance (SDM) and Reference Data Hierarchy Platform (RDHP) for Alternate Hierarchies

The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, advanced degree preferred, and overall 7+ years professional experience with 3+ years of project management experience.

  • Self-starter with excellent leadership, interpersonal, and project management skills

  • Ability to handle multiple deliverables concurrently to deliver high quality results in committed timeframes

  • Partnership-oriented and team player with ability to communicate with all staff levels within and outside of own area including senior level stakeholders with technical backgrounds

  • Proven ability to work across diverse groups, build consensus and execute the agreed plans

  • Ability to develop strong stakeholder relationships and gain consensus on key decisions

  • Excellent ability to quickly learn and assimilate business and technical knowledge, and confidently speak about these processes

  • Strong data mining, problem solving and analytical skills with ability to summarize findings

  • Experience in creating process flows, presentations, and project plans

  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access and MS PowerPoint and Tableau

  • Proven experience working with Technology to deliver projects

  • Familiarity with the Agile development methodology

  • Derivatives product, risk, and finance knowledge and experience is highly desirable

  • Reference data infrastructure and concepts knowledge is a plus
