Position Summary:

 

Reporting to the Equities Technology Business Management Lead, the primary function of the role is to provide comprehensive financial and strategic support to the Equities Technology organization.  The role will involve regular interaction with key stakeholders across Technology, Finance, Strategy and Front Office.

 

Successful candidates should have at least 5-8 years' experience in business management and /or strategy roles, preferably in Financial Services or a Technology organization.  You should have excellent communication and organizational skills, strong attention to detail and enjoy handling complexity. We are a lean and agile team and look for people who thrive in this working environment.

 

 

The Business Manager – will lead and work closely with the Chief Business Technologists to formulate and execute overall strategy across the various investment programs.  The Business Manager will integrate with key stakeholders, technology management and business management to have the ‘big picture’ and goals are aligned.  Additionally, they will operate in a chief-of-staff function for in many aspects and will help to drive agenda to deliver world class technical solutions for the Equities franchise.

  • Work with Chief Business Technologists as trusted partner to drive transparency and accountability of financials and support their business management needs.
  • Hold monthly business review meetings on financial results, risks and issues and business outcomes
  • Systematic and accurate tracking and reporting of project roll-off, reinvestment, unfunded demand, infrastructure costs, productivity, vendor costs, forecasting and business allocations.
  • Support of workforce and location strategies
  • Partner with Markets Technology Finance management to use standard financial reports in all forums
  • Partner with Business and Technology to effectively deliver on the Strategy Tech Roadmap
  • Assist with communication of key Equities Technology accomplishments and risks/issues to Global Business Heads as part of the quarterly governance review
  • Communicate and document all financial risks and opportunities across managed and allocated financials. Track, account for and explain allocations and variances for Equities Technology costs to Front Office businesses.
  • Provide inputs to the global Business Controls Forums and Committees, highlighting key Technology risk/controls projects and production stability issues
  • Promote Markets Technology toolsets across CIB and drive adoption
  • Become liaison between business users across CIB and technology teams beyond our organization
  • Analyse existing capabilities and identify priority gaps and opportunities
  • Prioritize needs and investments based upon Equities relationship insights, competitive positioning and industry research

Requirements:

 

Candidates with a consulting background in financial services industry are preferred.   The successful candidate should also possess the following attributes:

  • Ability to synthesize  information to formulate a “story” for Senior Management
  • Strong work ethic, self-starter who is creative with a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Quick learner with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously and independently, while maintaining a high degree of communication and escalation at appropriate junctures
  • Team player comfortable working in a fast-paced consulting-style, unstructured environment
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical problem solving skills – as well as written and verbal communication
  • Professional maturity, personal integrity, and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to receive and act upon feedback
  • Experience working on a trading floor and interacting with research, sales & trading is preferred
  • High-level of proficiency in MS-Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio)
