Head of Strategy for Consumer Lending - Managing Director

Our Business
JPMorgan Chase provides strategic support to businesses and functions from two different divisions:  ‘Core Strategy’ and ‘Strategy & Process Improvement’ (S&PI). Both divisions have approximately five teams, including both Corporate and LOB-aligned teams (Asset Management, Consumer and Community Banking, Commercial Banking & Corporate and Investment Bank). The ‘Core Strategy’ teams focus on the strategic agenda of the firm and the lines of business as well as on commercial evaluation and development of new businesses, products, and markets. In comparison, ‘S&PI’ partners with lines of business to improve their operating models, resulting in better processes, controls and financial results.
Consumer and Community Banking (CCB) Strategy functions as an internal consulting group and works on a project basis, addressing topics at the top of senior management agendas and at the forefront of the industry. Projects span many lines of business, including; Branch, Online/Mobile and Small Business Banking; Credit Card, Payments, Mortgage, Auto-Finance and Wealth Management. Projects include; developing growth strategies, assessing and planning market entry, and designing cross-product business initiatives. Projects are typically team-based and include heavy interaction and collaboration with lines of business and functional staff areas.
CCB Strategy is looking for a highly-effective 'Core Strategist' with a proven track-record in growth, market entry strategy, and strong experience within the Consumer Lending space at the Managing Director level.  
  • As a critical member to the CCB Leadership team, you will oversee and execute on the strategy of the Card, Mortgage, and Auto Finance businesses; partnering directly with the CEO’s of respective businesses and the CEO of Consumer Lending. 
  • Use both vision and analysis to unlock business problems and build compelling fact based strategic recommendations, which successfully engage stakeholders.
  • Develop an overall strategic framework and financial plan to replace revenue streams lost from regulatory changes.
  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders in order to identify strategic business goals and change initiatives.
  • Guide and support decisions on growth and profitability improvement initiatives, including develop business plans to; effect pricing changes, identify new revenue streams, revenue deepening opportunities, and increase the quality of our customer experience.
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, and lead talented professionals to deliver outstanding results.
  • Engage senior leadership from products, distribution channels, customer experience, and business functions to drive strategy.
  • Support business with identified initiatives (regulatory, control, distribution, and product driven).
  • Lead cross functional teams to deliver on implementations.

  • Experience in both management consulting and internal strategic consulting within the financial services industry is preferred. Sector specific experienced specific to; SME; card services; home lending and auto finance.
  • 15+ year’s growth and go-to market strategies for financial institutions particularly in the Consumer Lending space.
  • An outstanding ability to apply quantitative analytical approaches, communicate effectively and confidently (both oral and written).
  • Ability to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels (including C – Level) and across a variety of businesses.
  • Proven organizational ability and working within tight deadlines, often under pressure.
  • Vision, creativity, presence, and credibility. A collaborative and flexible style. Ability to interact effectively with senior leadership and business sponsors.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across a highly matrixed organization.
  • Consulting ability to determine context, collate relevant facts/data, analyze and coherently articulate the challenge, potential solutions and recommended solution.
  • Management of a team with the ability to recruit and shape a multi-functional, dynamic, flexible, global team to ensure broad expertise across distribution channels, products and different markets.
  • Reactive to changing requirements and scenarios.
  • Ability to steer and multi-task across a wide portfolio of initiatives.
